NWA taking back there titles

Mike Johnson is reporting that TNA will be losing the rights to the NWA name and the NWA titles in the next several months. TNA has plans to introduce their own set of World and Tag Team titles very soon. One scenario being discussed would see Samoa Joe win the NWA title and then toss it down saying he's the TNA champion instead much like Shane Douglas did in ECW back in 1995.

Over the weekend, at an NWA show in Canada, Bryan Danielson made a challenge saying he wants to be the NWA champion. The NWA committee met and once the titles are gone from TNA Danielson is in line to be the next champion

In that same thread there is another report saying that it could happen within the next few weeks if not sooner.

Just to throw it out there Mike, I found it on PWInsider too.

And yes, I too wish Danielson would go to TNA. The man is amazing. Maybe someday we will see him on TV. Hell, I'd settle for him being stuck with a shitty gimmick on SmackDown! if that meant I got to see him wrestle everyweek.

Wonder if TNA will replace the X-Division Belt as it says NWA at the top?

They are going to either do one of two things as far as the X-Belt is concerned.
1. Replicate the belt and just change from it saying NWA to the TNA logo (like what WWE did with one the WWF title with Austin)

2. Create a whole new belt.

I Hope they get a new belt, it would be a refreshing change, also keep up with the "new era of TNA" motif they will use when Joe drops the NWA belt for the TNA belt.

first off if joe tried to pull a shane douglas it would be really really bad

secondly i'm ok with danielson being nwa champ i guess....but isn't the nwa title really kinda antiquated as of this point, i mean it worked when territories were huge but nowadays not so much

Yeah, I can't really think of any NWA territories, other than NWA Florida, but that's just because I live here.

This is going to be good for TNA in the long run, the NWA name is holding them down IMO. Once they drop the NWA name they can start to establish them selves as their own federation.
