The scene opens on a beach on a relatively mild winter’s day, the sun is low on the horizon as the shadows of a few passers-by stretch out on the sand, and the waves move against the shores softly as the slight breeze adds to the peaceful atmosphere. The camera pans around to reveal a walkway on this beach, where on the railings leans the God of Live, and new number 1 contender to the Florida State title, Gerard Carson. Gerard looks out at the sea as his hair blows as soft as the breeze. His journey to this beach is one of refreshment as he turns to face the camera, with a slight smile on his face before he begins to speak.
Gerard: Well, well, well, look who it is! The man that was a thorn in my side for months as I struggled to hold on to the Hardcore Title with hardly any pride left inside me, a man who humiliated me in previous matches, a man, dare I say…who changed me. The man I talk about is the Immortal One, the God of War, Spaz. Many believe that this man is my superior, and truth be told, I can’t blame people for making these statements. I have never pinned Spaz or made him to submit, and he is still one opponent that I must overcome if I am to truly prove the dominance I am capable of in the professional wrestling world. This Sunday, I have a match on Live against Spaz, and I accept that I have to put the one title I hold left on the line against a man who has got the better of me in the past. Many would believe that this match should be a cause for concern for me, but concern is something I don’t feel. I’m not gonna complain and make false accusations that management put me against Spaz to screw me over, because I don’t feel any need to complain, I don’t feel any need to worry, I don’t feel uncomfortable at all going into this match for one reason, and that reason is that I want to face Spaz, and more importantly, I have a desire to overcome one of my greatest challenges that I have ever faced in the ring…
Gerard stays calm as he goes on to address a man with who he has had a history of an intense rivalry with in PCW.
Spaz, the Gerard Carson you faced many months ago has died, but in this death, there was a resurrection…a new Gerard Carson rose from the ashes and became not just a better wrestler, but a better person because of it. This new look on life allowed me to become more dominant than my old, arrogant self could ever become, it turned me into a man of honour and respect, one that will work his damned hardest to earn a victory and will never give up easily. This change allowed me to put Mike Adams to the limit and almost take away the one prize that he held dear, the PCW Championship. Although that match I may have lost, my spirits were not down, I continued working and working to the best of my ability and eventually, I was able to become PCW’s first-ever dual champion possessing the IOW championship and the God of Live title. From the end of our long feud when we went our separate ways, I became a success…However, there is a question to be answered, and that is simply this…who do I owe this recent success I have had to? Myself? Partly, I realised myself that I had to make a change in my attitude, but it was mainly down to someone else who actually made me realise this change that I had to make. Was it Amy? Partly also, she showed up at the right time and I felt like there was a reason to feel happy once again now that I got back in contact with my closest relative who I was parted with for almost eight years. But it was because of a feud I was in with one man that I was able to reunite with her. I don’t owe this change for the better in my life all to my sister and myself. Believe it or not, the person I mostly owe it to…is Spaz…
Gerard pauses for a moment, as the look on his face is still a calm one, not one of anger, which he would’ve shown months ago when addressing the man that he couldn’t stand one time, as he continues on.
For those times that you kicked my ass in the ring, especially the first time you defeated me and ended my undefeated streak in PCW Spaz, I was questioning everything. I had no idea why I lost to you, and when it came to the rematch, I thought it would be easy that time around, but once again, defeat slapped me in the face when you were able to defeat me again. It was only when it came to actually having to put my Hardcore title on the line that I realised that being too self-centred and over-confident was the only thing that was holding me down, but by then it was too late…you took that title just like you said you would, and I felt frustration like never before, knowing that however much I tried, I could not beat you. But little did I know, somewhere in my home city, my sister, who I hadn’t spoke to in years, watched me on the screen, her brother, and what type of person I had become, after many years of searching, she found me. It was only when I was able to get the past off my chest to her, the anger bottled up inside me was released, and the bitterness that lived inside Gerard Carson died, it could not survive without the anger I felt, and from that moment, there would be a rebirth, a rebirth that would send my career, my abilities and my respect for and from others in one grand upward direction.
Gerard leans off the railings now as he stands up straight and looks into the camera, the wind still blowing in his hair as he carries on with a more serious tone than before.
You welcomed me to my nightmare long ago Spaz, that nightmare made me see the wrong type of person I was becoming, and I had to change sooner or later before I became nothing but some no-good jobber who nobody cared about and had no future in a professional wrestling business. Thankfully, because of that nightmare, I was able to make that important change and now, that nightmare you welcomed me to long ago is over, and it was thanks to you that I was able to make that change, it was because of you, that my sister found out where I was after hearing your name in the same sentence as mine from somebody as simple as a passer-by in the street…for that to change my life for the better, I have a lot of respect for you…Yes, you heard me right. After all the insults, all the mockery, all the bitter rivalries we’ve had in our past feud, I, Gerard Carson, a man who many would’ve never thought would ever hold a slight amount of respect for you, actually does. I don’t know if you have much respect for me Spaz, but whether you do or you don’t, I am grateful that I was able to see the errors of my ways and become the success that I am today, and for that, I thank you.
Gerard pauses again as a more serious look appears on his face now. He lifts his head down slightly and the smile is no longer on his face, as he is about to move on to the more serious, important matter. He takes a deep breath before he looks deep into the camera and speaks once again.
Now, to address the match this Sunday. You see, at this current moment, I stand as the God of Live and number 1 contender to the Florida State title in WPW. My success in professional wrestling still stands today, and I believe that now is the time to put this success to the test, to know for definite that I have left the days of the old Gerard Carson behind, and what better way to put this to the test, than to face you Spaz! If I can take you to limits that you never believed I had the power to do before, then my objective is complete. Spaz, the match is set, I’m ready to go into that ring and look the challenge that you are straight in the eye, put one of the titles that I worked hard to earn in PCW on the line, and show you exactly what I’ve become. In the past, I may have dreaded stepping in the ring with you, but not anymore. Spaz, I do not fear you anymore, in that ring, there is nothing you can do anymore to make me fear you, and this Sunday, my mind is set on one thing, not on worrying about a past enemy that I wasn’t able to defeat, I have a goal, to defend the God of Live title, and believe me, unlike the Hardcore title, I’m not giving this title up without a real fight! Spaz, this Sunday…prepare to experience a Carsonation like you’ve never experienced before!
As Gerard turns to look out at the sea, he looks and feels more refreshed and focused as he turns around before walking off down the walkway of the beach, with his hands in his jacket pockets as the camera fades out with the smooth sounds of the gentle breeze and the relaxing waves.
End Scene.
