Recap shows Abyss’s attack on Christian at his house last week.
It seems like there are more fireworks this week.
Abyss w/ James Mitchell vs. AJ Styles
Wow, what an opening match! One year ago, these two squared off at Lockdown. After a stare down, AJ goes to work on Abyss’ knees. After a dropkick, AJ snaps off a quick hurricanrana. AJ comes off the ropes and Abyss catches him. Abyss grabs AJ’s throat for a chokeslam, but AJ bites his hand! Abyss with a monster chop in the corner. Abyss is twisting AJ’s head while Styles is in a sitting position. Abyss picks AJ up and just drops him on his stomach. Commercial break featuring one for iMPACT!’s move to Thursdays. Abyss is still in control when we return. He stomps AJ in the corner and Mitchell sets off the detonator. AJ reverses a Black Hole Slam attempt into an enzuigiri. He snaps off another hurricanrana. He springs off the top rope with a big forearm on the big man. He sets p for the Clash, but Abyss counters and hits the Shock Treatment. AJ gets his foot on the rope at 2. Abyss goes to the second rope but misses a frog splash. AJ nails a Pele and goes up top. Mitchell grabs his foot with the cane. Abyss throws AJ across the ring from the top rope. Abyss goes outside and gets some thumbtacks. Backstage, Christian pulls up and gets out of a truck with a tire iron. Cage makes his way to ringside and nails Abyss in the gut with it. He chases Abyss and Mitchell to the back. Security comes to grab Cage and he flips out.
Winner: No one. The ref threw the match out.
Christian’s got the stick and goes back into the ring. He looks pissed. He tells Mitchell that at Lockdown he will face Abyss. He asks Abyss if he’s prepared to die at Lockdown, because he is.
JB is with Team 3D in the back. Team 3D will face Team Canada in an anthem match at Lockdown. Ray badmouths Canada and puts over the US. Yawn. Stop hatin’ on Canada.
Lockdown promo.
Konnan w/ Homicide vs. Bob Armstrong w/ The James Gang
This arm wrestling match will not end with a winner. Guaranteed. The crowd is behind Bullet Bob all the way. Rudy Charles throws Homicide and The James Gang out. Konnan keeps pulling away. It looks like Konnan’s gonna win, but Bullet Bob comes back until… Some dude nails him from behind with a slapjack. They say it’s “Hernandez,” but I am unfamiliar with him.
Winner: No one. Again.
JB is with Larry Zbyzsko. Larry puts over the Joe/Sabu match and the World X Cup. It will be Christopher Daniels vs. Jushin Liger at Lockdown! This should be awesome. On Thursday, Daniels will face Joe for the X Division title. Mark “Slick” Johnson comes in and wants to work the X Division title match on Thursday. He says TNA management is bringing in a new guy. Ok, Slick. Thanks.
Diamonds in the Rough (Skipper and Young) vs. Shark Boy and Norman Smiley
Simon Diamond joins the guys at the announce table and they show pictures from the newest Sports Illustrated featuring Diamond being whacked by Ozzie Guillen. Before the match starts, Scott Steiner’s music hits and Jarrett, Steiner, and AMW come out. The Diamonds bail. Steiner and AMW go to town on Shark Boy and Norman Smiley. Jarrett berates Tenay and West. Shark Boy gets thrown out of the ring. Norman Smiley gets a Hart Attack from AMW. Steiner waffles Smiley as he’s hanging over the rail. He puts the Steiner Recliner on him while yelling for Sting. The look on Smiley’s face is priceless.
Winners: once AGAIN, no one.
Commercial for Best of Bloodiest Brawls DVD.
Replay of attack on Smiley. Smiley got carried out on a stretcher.
Alex Shelley vs. Roderick Strong vs. Chase Stevens
The winner will be the final member on Team USA for the World X Cup. Both guys try to jump Stevens on the way in, but he avoids them. Stevens and Strong end up in the ring with Stevens getting the best of Strong. Shelley come sin, but Stevens gives him a faceplant. Shelley with a spin kick to Stevens. Strong with a nice backbreaker on Stevens. They double team Stevens with some nice flips onto his prone body. Stevens eventually trips Shelley into the middle rope and makes a comeback on Strong as well. He sends Strong into Shelley, who falls off the mat. Strong with a kick to the face and a 2 count. Stevens counters with a powerbomb, but Shelley breaks up the count. Stevens goes upstairs, but Strong dropkicks him. Strong with a superplex on Stevens. He locks in the Walls of Jericho and Shelley turns on him with a kick to the back of the head. He hits his finisher and gets the win over Strong and Stevens.
Winner: Alex Shelley
It’s time for Sting to do some talking. Sting says he came back because he loves wrestling, the fans, and TNA. Sting doesn’t like Jeff Jarrett. This is news to me. Sting says he got one-upped at Destination X, so he has to one-up Jarrett now. Sting’s says he’s not gonna announce who his mystery partner is tonight, but he’ll do it on Thursday night. The crowd chants Goldberg. Sting throws out a challenge for Thursday night; him against Jarrett. Jarrett’s music hits. Jarrett and Co. come down to the ring, but all the faces come down to support Sting. Jarrett and Co. back up the ramp.
