A MAN has been found dead in a hotel room after plugging himself into the mains via a 12-hour timer.
Stephen Brown, 42, trailed wires up his trouser legs and wrapped others round his head, then downed a bottle of whisky. He was electrocuted when the timer switched in.
Married Mr Brown was discovered by chambermaids in his £105-a-night room at the seaside Adastral Hotel in Hove, East Sussex.
A fire brigade source said:“Nothing could prepare us for what we saw. Some firefighters have been offered counselling.”
Mr Brown left a long suicide note.
A police spokesman said: “He was found just after 12.30pm on Wednesday. He had taken his own appliance inside the room which he had attached to the mains.
“The electricity had to be cut off before anybody could touch the body. His wife was informed and taken to her husband’s parents.”
Hotel staff refused to comment.
