Well kiddies its time for antoher edition of The Big Picture. Just thought I would let everybody know that after this week the Big Picture will be taking on a few changes. I will be adding some new graphics and a few new features. Starting this week we will have a "Question of the week". What that is basically is I will give one lucky person the chance to ask one question haveing something to do with WWE. If you have always had a question and never had the answer PM it to me or email it to me at cena316wwe@hotmail.com. I will put it in the next column with the answer. And if i dont know the answer I will surely make one up that best fits the question. Now on to the next stage. I will also ask a question myself. It may be a question about current WWE or it may be a Question about past WWE.. but if you think you know the answer PM me or email me. If you get it right you will recieve absolutley nothing except the pride of knowing you knew the answer. Good. Now that we have all that out of the way lets move on to this weeks column.

This week I am choosing a topic that is very dear to my heart. This topic makes me want to cry everytime I think about it...............Ha not really.......had ya going didnt I?. No this week I am going to be discussing the current state of Smackdown.

Now as most of you know Smackdown! airs every Thursday night on UPN. Smackdown first debut in 1999. It was started as a catchup show with a little bit of Wrestling on it. The debut show introduced us to the Corporate Ministry. Ah I remember it as though it was yesterday. Anyways I dont remember every single detail of the show but that part did stand out. The Corporate Ministry we all thought. What in the blue hell is that. This faction made and impact as it was Vince McMahon who started the entire faction. But good ole' Vince wouldnt let us down oh no. Smackdown became the #1 rated tv show on network television. And by the year 2000 it was almost ahead of RAW.

Well Vince apparently noticed this and decided to slow Smackdown up a bit. He stopped making the Smackdown story lines go above what they were on RAW. I mean we saw some really funny and great things on Smackdown!. I specifically remember when Stone Cold Steve Austin blew up the DX Express. Man that was awesome. But yet Vince thought it would be better to have the best story lines on RAW..Ok I can deal with that.

Well we move on down the road and we get to the Brand Extension. At the time this seemed like a great idea. I mean you can have twice as much talent on two shows. Smackdown took the backseat to RAW. Raw moved on and eventually took the reins of the WWE. All the second hand talent went to Smackdown! All the left over talent went to Smackdown! Raw was rolling and there wa no stopping it.

But Vince apparently saw what he had done and decided to help Smackdown out a little bit. He gave Smackdown stars liek The Rock, & Hulk Hogan,..Rowdy Roddy Piper and guys that he knew could carry the show. Well Smackdown! started getting a little bit better until it was almost as good as RAW once again. Well Vince saw this as a bad thing and again took the steam away from Smackdown.

Well today Smackdown is nothing more than a pre taped edited 2nd hand tv Show. The talent is ok but it could be better. I mean the only people Smackdown has right now is JBL, RVD, John Cena, & Booker T...Those guys are good but they in my oppinion cannot carry a show. RAW on the other hand has guys like Triple H, Ric Flair,Kane,Chris Jericho, Shawn Micheals, & Chris Benoit just to name a few. I mean RAW should be the superior show becaue they have the better talent. I mean if Smackdown had some of those guys it would be a little better.

Well Vince sees his vision of Smackdown! going downt he drain so he decides to have a Draft Lottery. Well I for one was excited about this idea. I mean new talent on each show. New story lines. New everything. Even a new GM. Well the night arrives. And what happens. Vince trade a few mid carders and one big start who eventually gets traded back. Now to me thats not good for buisness. Plus you have Undertaker who doesnt even show hsi face on TV. I mean I see what WWE is trying to do with him but why? Why use him at house shows. Not everybody goes to house shows and not everybody sees what goes on at a house show. And if they were going to use him as a special attraction then why hype him on TV. Just hype him at House Shows. Thats what I would do. But anyways thats not what this column is about.

Here is my oppinion on the whole deal. I htink they should put Taker on TV. Have him wrestle every now and then so he doesnt forget how. And give Smackdown! some of RAW's talent. And they should also make Smackdown live. By the time Thursday gets here everybody knows what is going to happen. You cant have anything secret happen because everybody knows what is going to happen. I even remember a time when WWE put Smackdown Spoilers on their website. now is that lack of support or what. Well this of course is just my oppinion.
