TNA Wrestling did a .8 rating this past Saturday night which translates into about 850,000 viewers. The show remained consistent in the ratings throughout the show and peaked with a .82 for the segment involving Team 3-D, Kevin Nash, Jeff Jarrett.
The show drew a .7 audience among males 18 to 34 and 18 to 49. The strongest viewer demographic was between ages 25 to 34 at .9.
This should be considered great news for TNA as it's above the normal WWE Velocity rating. Keep in mind though there was also heavy promotion for the debut show. Next week will be more interesting to see if the ratings can remain steady or improve.
ALSO
As noted earlier the debut show of iMPACT! on Spike TV drew a .8 rating which totals about 850,000 viewers. Some may be disappointed while others may feel it is a solid number.
Spike TV officials had hoped the show would debut at a .5 or higher, some even hoping for close to a 1.0. The key is to see what the show is pulling about two months from now.
It also appears that TNA was able to keep the former WWE Velocity fanbase. It's interesting to note that last weeks final Velocity show only drew a .6 rating. The TNA iMPACT! rating was up .2 from that.
The Ultimate Fighter has been averaging a little over a 1.0 rating on a weekly basis but they had been starting immediately following the RAW over-run which is usually the highest rated part of the show so they had been able to keep some of WWE's fanbase.
Nonetheless, this rating should be looked at as nothing but positive for their debut show. The real test comes next week after the rating is revealed to see if they can maintain or add-on viewers.
Some good news there for TNA i wasn't expecting them to get as high as a .8 rating but it shows that there is interest out there. But as is the general message in the news above can TNA maintain and eventually increase that rating? If that is the case then TNA could be looking at really growing into a big time promotion.
However i am getting slightly pissed at all the TNA marks who keep on going on how Vince McMahon is shitting himself now that TNA have debuted on Spike and how finally WWE will have some compitition and that Monday Night Wars II is just around the corner. Granted TNA have come up in leaps and bound in the 3 years they have been around and are really on their way but they pose no plausible threat to the WWE at this moment and won't do for a very VERY long time, if ever.
But still i do hope TNA can do well for themselves as their programming lately has been some of their best to date and also it would be nice for some of their guys to get the exposure they deserve. So thought's?
