Well guys this is week 3 of "The Big Picture". now this week i am going to be talking about the state of the WWE.

Now as you Diehard WWE fans know the WWE has went through many stages in its history. There was the Federation years in which we saw the birth of Hulkamania, The first Wrestlemania, and lets not forget those really cheasy cahracters.

Then we move on to the Attitude Era. We see the Debut of Bret "the hitman" Hart along with his brother Owen. We also the beginning of the Austin 3:16 Era. Degeneration X was running wild and the WWE was really on a roll. The sotry lines werent great but they had meaning. When Shawn Micheals defended the WWE Championship against Stone Cold Steve Austin at Wresltemania 15 that night was magical. There was just something in hte air. Then throw Mike Tyson in the mix and you have a very volital match. that night was one of the biggest nights and will probably be rememebered as one of the best if not the best Wrestlemanias of all time.

But it wasnt just the PPVs taht were good. Every Monday night we were glued to our TV sets to see what Stone Cold would do to Mr. McMahon. Or what kind of antics DX was up to this week. Story lines were the best they have ever been. Every single match wa built up for weeks and the final matches were spectacles. We didnt just tune in and see two guys fighting becaue WWE couldnt think of anything else for them.

Well we arrive in the WWE Era. Story lines are stale. The word Entertainment was introduced to the wrestling world. Back in the days of the Federation and Attitude Eras we all knew wrestling was fake but the WWE did not openly admit it was fake. They let our imaginations go on that one. Now that they have added Entertainment to the mix it just seems as if it is not as fun as it once was.

Back in the day Wrestling was the impitimy of a sport. I mean you could tune in and have no idea what was gooing to happen because in those days Vince McMahon had competition in WCW that he had to work his ass off to beat week in and week out. Now that Vicne has bought WCW it seems as though he has given up. It seems as though he doesnt even push his writers to the edge like he once did. Now when you tune in to RAW you already know what is going to ahppen even though the show is live. And yes the internet has helped with that but the Internet was not just invented last week. It was around during hte Attitude Era but we still had no idea what was going to happen. Is it becasue the WWE has chosen not to shelter its story lines like it once did or have the days of good old rastlin' come and gone.

Now dont get me wrong I am smart enough to realize that you cant just have 2 guys wrestle a plain old wrestling match and expect people to enjoy it. You have to have somehting entertaining in the macth. But in years past the WWE knew how to put the two together. But now matches only last 3 or 4 minutes and they arent entertaining at all.

And I cannot believe the WWE accually got one over on us this year. Wrestlemania XX. Where it all begins again. Where what begins again. i never saw anything begin again. All I saw was the same old guys vs the same old guys. Now I was there in person and IN PERSON it was great. But had I been watching it on TV I would have been bored out of my mind. I mean there were no gimicks, no surprises, nothing that is going to make me remember the show. It seems like WWE is trying to go back to real wrestling but in my oppinion it is too late for that. The days of people wanting to see plain old wrestling have come and gone. WWE needs to realize that this is a new generation. WWE has adapted to every other generation why cant htey adapt to this generation.

When we wanted to see new fueds and new gimicks the WWE changed their look and style. Now it seems as if they dont even listen to us anymore. There used to be a day when I would spend a whole montsh allowance just to see the monthly PPVs. I did not even try to watch Backlash nor was I able to see RAw last night but it didnt bother me. I never thought this day would come when I didnt care about watching wrestling. I really hope this changes and I hope the WWE changes because if they dont they are going to go straight down the drain.

Bottom line, Has the WWE lost its touch? Have they ran out of good story lines? Or is Vince McMahon just getting tired of promoting sports Entertainment. I dont know the answer but I wish I did. My opinion on the state of WWE is that they better change and quick.

But of course these are just my opinions. And as always dont forget to look att he big picture!!!Until next week.

Interesting take on this subject. Minus a few grammatical errors :) , the column was very good. I too find myself wondering from time to time what is going on in the WWE. I just hope they figure it out soon.

Ya know I have tried and tried and tried and tried to type somthing without gramatical errors but I dont think it is possible. If I slow down then it takes 3 days to type it so I have just come to the conclusion that I cannot type a perfect post. it aint gonna happen. I just have to hope that readers know what i meant to say.

And it just psses me off sometimes when i see the WWE blow a good story line ie: The Undertaker return story line.

LOL! That is true. I try my hardest to write stuff w/o grammatical errors, but I always see one when I look back at what I posted. Yeah, I don't understand what is going on with the Undertaker. Seems the WWE does not know what to do with him either.

Well, for columns you should proof read them once, which usually allows you to catch grammatical errors. Still, it's not like they were excessive....I have seen far worse. I agree with you about WM XX...I think the most memorable thing from it was Brock and Goldy getting booed because they were leaving. HBK v. Triple H v. Benoit was great, but the Brock/Goldberg "match", if you can call it that, sticks out the most, and that's not a good thing.

I also know what you mean about not caring about the product. Well, sort of anyway. Personally, I love Raw. SmackDown...meh, not so much. Judgement Day is at Staples center, in my backyard, and I am not even going to think about getting tickets. Why pay a fortune to see a PPV headlined by Bradshaw vs. Guerrero? Eddie is good and all, but Bradshaw is still Bradshaw...it's not like a new gimmick suddenly makes him a quality wrestler.

Anyway, Cena you said that in your opinion the WWE needs to change, and quick. Change to what? You obviously don't care for the current product, but how would you improve it? This would have been a good two part column...maybe next time you can detail what YOU would do if you were in charge.:)

It was a good column with like Trevor and Chazz said, minus a few grammatical errors. I remember watching WM V and thinking it can't get any better than this a into the Attitude Era it got better, but now staleness is the WWE's downfall. I sometimes don't get the WWE's problem with ending storylines without an explaination(I mean doesn't Lita want revenge on Christian for making that bet with Jericho? It seems as if she doesn't care, but she also never got a chance to tell us what she thought of Christian and the tart!), the beginning of new ones(Why does Kane care so much about Lita that he'd kiss her or care about Matt to beat the living hell out of him?) and then bringing back old Superstars(minus Undertaker, but plus Grandmaster Sexay, the reformation of Too Cool and a return for Jeff Hardy?).
I agree with Trevor that this would make a great two part column and I'd go with his suggestion if at all possible.
