TNA is expected to announce a new television clearance this week. We expect the Monday Night War to heat up again, although far scaled down from what WCW once was.

According to The Between the Ropes radio show, TNA sources are indicating the company will clear WGN on Mondays from 8-10 PM starting 6/20. As of right now, TNA would continue to run out of Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

WGN is a Superstation similar to WTBS in its earlier incarnations, is owned by the Tribune Corporation. The channel is not viewable in many markets in the Northeast including New York and Boston.

Ok this story has been going for about a week but no one has mentioned it yet, therefore I am posting it here even though I hardly post here. Trev you need to have a talk with your staff. I know, I know, you have exams/finals, graduation parties, holiday weekend, etc. Excuses, excuses. Either that or apparently no one likes TNA that much. Anyhow to the matter at hand. TNA is suppose to announce a deal with WGN start programming on 6/20 right after their ppv. It is also rumored Matt Hardy will debut sometime very soon after that date. Now before the hype starts let me say that at least it will be good to be able to flip the channel anytime I hear Chris Masters music start or see Melina with a mic on Raw. However, do not get all hyped up about this yet. One thing TNA has going against them is WGN itself. I had totally forgot that channel exist and has been said many of you in the northeast may not get that channel. Sorry but you can't really have a ratings war when one channel has such a smaller market. Also with WWE moving back to USA(unless someone heard differently) this fall they should expand their viewing market. The bottomline is for some viewers it will give some wrestling fans what they want a chance to watch something else besides WWE. However, I don't think it is going to provide the level of competition we are expecting. At least not yet. Nevertheless, Vince is no dummy when it comes to competition. Also he has this image for being ruthless. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't 6/20 the date for the draft?

I'll give TNA a year until it folds or moves from this spot. Truth be told I don't think TNA can compete with the WWE on the Monday night scale yet. WWE has a huge budget, some good feelers out there for talent and when times get tough nobody gets through them better then Vinnie Mac. From what I have heard WGN doesn't have too great an influence in the US, TNA should have tried a larger network if they want to go head to head. The North East is a massive wrestling market so straight away TNA will be considered bush league.

The one good thing about this is that it will give the WWE the kick in the ass that they need badly. They have gotten way too comfortable as of late which is exactly why Triple H can wield alot of his power. Competition forces change and Triple Hs golden throne will have to be knocked. If not then maybe TNA will make it past one year and run onto two, provided they keep Double J in check. To succeed TNA really need to concentrate on its really great talents, guys that provide a huge alternative to the WWE. Invest in Styles, invert in Daniels but key for me is Matt Hardy. He had the tools to be one of the tops in the WWE and there is no reason why he cant transfer this over to TNA.

The thing I want to see coming from this is Triple H getting knocked down the pecking order. Let youth and skill thrive.
