Today in wrestling it is hard as hell to make a title mean anything at all, especially on the indpendant scene. AT one point in time the NWA World Title was almost meaningless. Looking at the titles history it is kin of hard to believe that, even for a second! I mean, that title is prestigious! Harley Race, Buddy Rogers, Lou Thesz, Great Muta, Jack Briscoe, Terry Funk, Dory Funk Jr., Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, STing and more have made that title so meaningful. Same goes with the WWE Championship. In my oppinion Sammartino made that belt. He held that belt for seven years. SEVEN YEARS! You would never see that now. Most fans are so pissy when they don't see a frequent title change, and that pisses me off. Thats how you make a title have more meaning, then when the champ loses it, the guy that beat him has an even bigger victory, and makes the belt that much more special than it already is. When Sammartino lost to Ivan Kolov the arena went silent, people cried! But the belt meant so much! Now this all brings me to HHH.

Triple H didn't hold the WWE World Title foralmost 2 straight years, although he might as well have, seeing as though anyone who beat him had a short reign, but he made the belt special. They just broguht the title in out of nowhere. Sure it had history, but with a different company. it was already prestigious, but with a guy like HHH on the mic putting it over, the belt will have so much more meanig. This made the fans open up their retarded eyes and see what the hell he was doing, at least some of them did. But nowadays it seems that pro WWE fans are almost wrestling retarded. Fans from the Indpendents are the more educated fans in my opinion.

Ring Of Honor. The Road to the title which took a couple months. The hype and buildup to the title alone made it a special belt. ROH put on great show after great show and made fans see that they were the real deal. FInally when Low Ki won the belt it was seen as his bigegest victory, but he defended it twice, and he lost it on the second defense. I thought for sure they were gonna **** on this title. But Xaviers reign lasted into 2003, and I was impressed. In March of 2003 Samoa Joe defeated Xavier for the ROH Championship. Now Samoa Joe is the guy that made the ROH Title what it is tday! Samoa Joe made it a World Title, and defends that title left and right. He has held that title for over a year now, and whoever beats him will not only be lucky, but his victory will be spoecial because Joe has held the belt for a while. To be honest, I want him to be the champ for another year! This will give the belt even more of a meaning to the ROH Wrestlers that bust their balls to keep this company alive! The ROH guys work harder than most people I have seen, and I give them all the credit in the world.

There are many ways to put a belt over, and give it prestige, but there are also ways to ruin it! I, and almost everyone else, have seen titles **** on! Lest go back to the Dubya-C-Dubya days. Anyone rememver "REady To Rumble" staring David Arquette? He signed a contract with the movie that would give him a World Title reign! As if you couldn't make wrestling seem anymore fake! Lets look at some past WCW World Champions and see who doesn't fit.

Ric Flair
Sting
Hulk Hogan
Randy Savage
Kevin Nash
Goldberg
Jeff Jarret
Booker T
DDP
David Arquette?

I would really like to know what the writers, and Vice Russo were smoking when they came up with this publicity stunt! Not only did they ruin a title, but they pissed of the wrestlers! There were so many guys in the back that deserved that belt, but **** them! Lets give to Arquette! What a mistake! I would have quit the company on the spot!

Ego...who has one? Vince McMahon. And what a way to show that you're number one then by making you the WWE Champion in your own federation! This one bugs me. Vince is in pretty good shape now, but wasn't at the time, but he made himself champ! Why? Who knows. But no one could've done anything about it. He owns the company! He pays your salary! Its not as bad as Arquette, Vince can put on matches, but that was totally wrong! If you are the owner of a company,. and make yourself champ, and you don't even wrestle, then thats low.

This brings me to John Zandig, owner of CZW and former CZW Champion. When Zandig is champ I don;t like it since he owns it, I would rather see the strap around somone else, but at least he can wrestle. He goes out there and does what his guys do! He jumps off buildings, lands on tacks, gets cut by barbed wire, is beaten with light tubes, bleeds like a bitch, and puts on a good show! At least he doesn't just say, "I'm gonna make me the champ cause I can, and not defend my belt, but I'll just get my writers to find a way for me to give it up." Zandig gos out, gets his ass kicked, kicks ass and defends the belt, and I give him credit for that!

So to close this column I ask you uneducated fans to open your eyes and see the bigger picture. Don't whine because of a long title reign from a wrestler you hate, read between the lines. He will lose the belt, but he is making it something, he is helping to make the company a better comapany. Thats the way wrestling works. If you don't like it, then turn off the TV.
