Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of The Complete Shot! Hope everyone had a good week. I'm going to ingore the pleasentries this week and get straight down to business.
I've been scratching my head for a while, and boy is it starting to hurt! Seriously, I've been trying to think of something to discuss in this week's column, but I have yet to come up with anything worth-while to write about. Then it hit me, and it hurt to. I could write about a character that's causing all sorts of contraversy in the WWE. No, not Triple H, Ric Flair or Stone Cold. The man I'm referring to is Eugene. I'm going to talk about how this character is a good and, obviously, bad thing for not only the WWE but Nick Dinsmore himself.
So sit back, get comfy and prepare to be shot.....completely!
The Good
After 7 years of training and competing at Ohio Valley Wrestling, Nick Dinsmore is on TV! Although he obviously hasn't had that much exposure in the WWE, Dinsmore has had quite a carrer in OVW. Since making his debut, he has been Tag Team Champion 11 times and has held the OVW Heavyweight Title 8 times which is a record that puts most of the top guys in the WWE to shame. Dinsmore definately has the skills to become a major player in the WWE. He can do it all. He can mat wrestle, he can take to the air and he has an innovative arsenal of manuvers. While competing at OVW, he was called "the money player of OVW" as he was Danny Davis's (owner of OVW) best studnet. You also have to hand it to the guy. I mean, the WWE gave him the worst character possible, and he still ran with it because he wanted to be on TV THAT bad! Normally I doubt I'd make the "Good" portion of this as long as I have, especially when I am dealing with something as touchy as this, but the William Regal aspect of the storyline intrigues me. It's got me curious as to how this is going to turn out.
The Bad
The obvious current flaw with Dinsmore is his character, but that is no fault of his. The WWE has been known for pushing the envelope, and they have done that many times. Whether it be with Chuck and Billy, HLA, the Katie Vick angle and now it seems the WWE is focusing on the mentally challenged. There is nothing the WWE won't do. The WWE could care less about how it affects people because all they are after is mainstream attention by the media. With the Eugene character, I really can't see Dinsmore going far. This character is a slap in the face to a man that should've gotten his chance long before failures like the Bashams, Shaniqua and Lesnar, among others. This storyline is not doing Regal any favours either, as he is stuck in a managerial role to Eugene, however, I guess Regal is just glad to be back on TV after the trouble that he's been struggling with for the last little while.
The Ugly
The WWE made a HUGE mistake when the came up with the idea for this character. Unless they somehow tweak the gimmick and have Eugene turn into a psycho, I really don't see this going anywhere. As with the aformentioned "envelope pushers", the WWE has taken this too far. This should get stopped before it gets any worse.
Well, that's it for this week. I realize it somewhat short, but there's really not much to go on other than what I've seen with the character so far.
All comments, criticisms and/or general bitching are welcomed on here or email me at the_complete_shot@hotmail.com. As well, please let me know what you would like me to write about next week.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend.
