Master Manipulator Or Truly “The Game”?

Firstly, I would like to say I have been shocked at the recent displays we have seen after WrestleMania twenty. Triple H actually jobbed to Chris Benoit at WrestleMania… something we internet fans didn’t see coming. But as of late, and for the past last month, Triple H hasn’t won a wrestling match. The Game went on to lose to Eddie Guerrero by Disqualification and he put over Shelton Benjamin over….not once, but TWICE! I am shocked! We have gone from a Triple H that has buried Rob Van Dam, Kane, Booker T, Shawn Michaels (to an extent), etc in just over a year to a Triple H that is losing wrestling matches to a young superstar who was stuck in the Tag Team Division on SmackDown.

Although, most of the internet fans today criticise Triple H for ‘holding talent back’, I love to watch “The Cerebral Assassin”! Sure, he isn’t as good as he once was, but he is still has great in ring ability and can put on great matches when required. Although the majority of the internet fans dislike Triple H for his backstage ‘politics’ as sometimes referred to as, you have to ignore the backstage stuff which goes on behind the curtains and think of Triple H… whether you like him or not? I almost can guarantee you, if Triple H was not using backstage ‘politics’ a low percentage of wrestling fans would bitch about seeing Triple H on Raw and bitching about Triple H squashing talent.

Looking back to some of Triple H’s 2003 feuds. Who made Goldberg, Scott Steiner, and even Kevin Nash look good, hell, Triple H made them even look better than him! Who lead all of them to decent matches? Triple H did! I think it would even be fair to say that Triple H created the ‘monster’ gimmick that Goldberg had. Did you see Triple H’s facial expression against Goldberg, or when Goldberg was in his presence. Triple H has done all that. Is Triple H holding down Raw? Hell No. Is Triple H holding Upper Mid Carders from becoming maineventers? Possibly. The bottom line is in my opinion that the ONLY thing that matters is: Triple H is good in the ring, and he is entertaining. Triple H is over with the crowd; he has great microphone skills… what more could you ask for a maineventer to be? One last thing till I rap up this part of the column on Triple H. The Game Is Still That Damn Good!

Um I really have to disagree about Nash, Steiner and Goldberg. Triple H's matches with all of them were absolutely terrible. Does he hold down talent? your damn right he does. I'm not someone who has just jumped on the Triple H bashing bandwagon, I've thought Trips was terrible ever since he tore his quad. And who carried all of the afformentioned mentioned wrestlers to good matches? Chris Jericho would be the only guy that I could think of. And Triple H created the whole Goldberg monster gimmick?????? I think that Eric Bischoff making him go 174-0 might have had sumthing to do with that gimmick.

I'll give Trips props for what he's done recently but, I still think that he hasn't redeemed himself for what he's done in the past.

PS 100th post :)

i agree with aussie, HHH is one of the reasons why RAW is better than SD!. respect to the Goldie thing i believe that Aussie was talking about making boreberg a monster on RAW, not the gimmick he had in wCw, The Rock was also part of stablishing Goldie as a top face.

on the fueds the only feud that really sucked was with Steiner, mainly because it takes someone Great to carry him (like Kurt or Jericho), if you are a mid carder a mini feud with Trips can do wonders for your career because makes fans interested in you, the thing is what WWE "creatives" do with you right after, if they give you something good (shelton vs flair) you are basically set if they do nothing (Huricane, Test) it's like it never happened and you are back to lowcard hell.

Trips is indeed the Game, he is the last survivor of the attitude era, and has us the internet fans talking about him all the time, he knows how to play with the live crowd (in ring or cutting promos), he makes the faces more beloved and the heels that hang with him more hated, if that is not a great character i dont know what is.

the "pull" he has backstage i think that is exagerated by the net, remember that WWE is Vince's company not trips, so i dont believe that his word is the law backstage. like him or hate him Hunter is good for the business.
