Ok, so I didn't know where to put this since there isn't a general video games section. I went to EB yesterday afternoon with a ton of games me and my brother have that we didn't want anymore (nearly 30 games I think). PS1, PS2, and GameCube games.

For all that we got a store credit amount of 64 dollars and some change (don't remember the change amount). We were bringing them up there because we wanted to put money up towards Halo 2 so that we didn't have to fork over as much cash. We weren't expecting to get even 30 bucks out of it and were surprised that our games were worth that much. We were also there to reserve GTA: San Andreas because we were told you had to reserve a copy, you couldn't buy it off the shelf on Tuesday. So we tell them to put money up towards Halo 2 and to also reserve GTA: San Andreas.

Well the coolest thing happened! They have this thing going on now that when you buy stuff from EB, you get money for it! Kinda like paying 50 bucks for a game and getting 10 dollars store credit. It's some kind of appreciation thing going on. Well putting both games on reserve and putting money up towards them got us 46 more dollars to do whatever we wanted with. We only owed 25 dollars on both Halo 2 and San Andreas and instead of knocking that down to two dollars per game, we decided to get a DVD we saw on the shelf that we wanted and I got a Gamecube game (my brother was buying some computer game with his own money on a seperate order). So he rings those through and that was SUPPOSED to make me get like 5 dollars off the DVD because the GC game was 39.99. Turns out the deal was still going on and I got credit for the DVD and only had to pay a dollar and change for the DVD.

We brought all those games in and ended up walking out with only 25 dollars owed on Halo 2 and San Andreas and walked away with a free GC game and a DVD that costed me 1 dollar and change!

I tell you guys this because if you have an EB in the area, take your old games up there! That's the coolest place ever! I don't know how long the deal is going for though.

Yeah, they do that with GAME over here in the UK. When GTA: Vice City came out, I put in some PS1 games to get it. Pretty good deal if you ask me. Let alone I pre-order some games I get there, so then I can get money off vouchers.

Off topic: I won't be getting GTA: San Andreas when it comes out. I'll be getting at Christmas instead so then all the hype won't ruin the game for me.

Thanks,

I remember the good old days having to go to the store and pay £40+ for one game.........

I'm just so happy my Xbox is chipped:)

EB is great and is the best place to go, I love the fact that you can get games 2-3 days before they come out in department stores and they have all the guide books for every game (I never buy them cause they ruin the games)

I do think more credit should be given for games though, it costs us all that money to buy them new but when we trade them in we barely get anything back.

It's because of how in demand they are. It depends on how many people are buying the game, how many stores need another copy, whether or not your case and game are in good condition and if you have the instruction booklet or not.

I found it funny a few weeks ago when a friend of mine tried to trade-in Madden 2004. He was pissed off and couldn't believe that they'd only take 50 cents for it. What do you expect when there's a newly released updated version of Madden out right now? Sports games are the WORST to trade-in except for wrestling games. You get like nothing for them.

Yeah, EB is the place to by games and such. If you wait awhile after a game has been out on the shelf, you can usually go there and buy it for a good price. Like, I bought Zelda: Windwaker there and got it for twenty bucks cheaper than I would have paid for it at Wal-Mart. And that was with no trade ins. EB is da bomb! :goodjob:

EB rules when it comes to selling games. I have known that for years. They will come up with some good promotional deals. Just like Gravedigger said you can really save some money. Of course sometimes it is timing and luck. I remember I was able to take advantage of a promotional deal. I traded in my N64 and some games and got a Gamecube and a couple of games for under $10. However by no means are we indicating this is the norm. EB is the top video game retailer so they are able to do these promotions more than their competitors.

Side note: Since are on the topic of video games and EB. I probably don't need to mention this but if anyone is going to get Halo 2, be smart and preorder it. It is a simple fact that if you don't preorder it you will not get it until like maybe Christmas. Any of your EB stores doing that midnight madness thing? All I have to say is I hope they have some good mall security(unless the EB store is a storefront) on November 9th.
