Las Vegas, NV – Thomas & Mack Arena

------------------------------------

The show starts off with Theodore R. Long. Theodore Long introduces the new Mark Jindrak as “The Reflection of Perfection.” Mark Jindrak’s new arrogant, pretentious role has him adorning himself in a mirror. Theodore Long announces the “Reflection of Perfection” will issue an open challenge to anyone backstage. Then “The One” Billy Gunn accepts the challenge and takes on the narcissistic Mark Jindrak.

Mark Jindrak (w/ Theodore R. Long) vs. Billy Gunn
Mark Jindrak gets a clean victory over Billy Gunn after nailing “The One” with the “Mark of Excellence.” Afterwards, Mark Jindrak is about to leave when Theodore Long tells his new superstar that he needs to make an impact. Jindrak goes back to the ring and attempts to assault “The One” with a steel chair. But then, Billy Gunn’s friend, Hardcore Holly runs out and chases off Mark Jindrak and Theodore Long and even came close to nailing the “Reflection of Perfection” with an Alabama Slam.

-- Commercial Break --

After the commercial break, SmackDown returns and backstage Mark Jindrak and Theodore Long are attempting to make an exit out of the Thomas & Mack Arena. But they meet resistance when Hardcore Holly ambushes “The Reflection of Perfection.” The attack doesn’t last long, because Stephanie McMahon assistant Johnny Smoove is standing by with security and they have Hardcore Holly escorted in the opposite direction. As he’s being escorted away, Hardcore Holly vows, “I’m gonna kick your arrogant, reflecting ass!”

Rico & Charlie Haas (w/ Miss Jackie) vs. Matt Morgan & Tyson Tomko
After Rico hits the superkick on Tyson Tomko, Charlie Haas locks in the Haas of Pain and the massive Tomko submits, giving Rico & Haas the victory. Afterwards, Rico and Miss Jackie celebrate and Rico boasts the success to an unsure Charlie Haas.

Backstage, in an interview, John “Bradshaw” Layfield expresses his disgust for the #1 contender for his U.S. Championship, Rey Mysterio. JBL says that he pitched the #1 Contender Battle Royal “vision” to Stephanie McMahon in the hope that an honorable man would emerge as his challenger, but yet he gets, “a thieving Mexican.” JBL says that he’s going to show Rey Mysterio tonight, in a tag match, that he’ll regret ever winning the battle royal. JBL promises that in a tag team match, he’ll expose Mysterio for what he is: a “failure” and “undeserving to challenge” for the U.S. title.

After SmackDown returns, backstage correspondent Ivory and a young Japanese man are doing some snooping outside of the SmackDown lockerroom, where Tajiri’s group the Yakuza is meeting. After the Yakuza comes out of the room, Ivory hides and after they depart, Ivory asks her Japanese companion what was said and the man revealed: Tajiri and the Yakuza are planning tonight for Akio to beat Ultimo Dragon for the Cruiserweight title and have Tajiri immediately named the #1 contender, so Akio can then “hand” Tajiri the title.

Ultimo Dragon vs. Akio -- Cruiserweight Championship
In a heated contest, Ultimo Dragon does beat Akio to retain the Cruiserweight title. But afterwards, Tajiri, Sakoda, and Akina of the Yakuza come down and they unleash a brutal assault on the Cruiserweight Champion. Tajiri cover Ultimo Dragon while Akina “counts to three” in a symbolic gesture. The Yakuza leave the Cruiserweight Champion, with his mask nearly ripped off, black mist in his eyes, and bleeding from the mouth. Color analyst Tazz comments, “I definitely take the Yakuza seriously now.”

Backstage, Shannon Moore and Josh Matthews are talking. Shannon Moore and Josh Matthews’ choice of topic is the situation between Goldberg, Kevin Nash, and WWE President Eric Bischoff. Shannon Moore calls Goldberg, “his idol” and says among other things that Kevin Nash and President Bischoff are “thugs.” And in a strange turn of luck, “Big Daddy Cool” and the President are standing behind Shannon Moore. Kevin Nash confronts Shannon Moore about his comments and of course, Shannon Moore waters down his previous bold statements. Eventually, Kevin Nash boots Josh Matthews in the face and tells Shannon Moore that “to quote my good friend and your idol Bill Goldberg, ‘You’re Next’” Realizing that his fate may be sealed, Shannon Moore gets bold once again and quips, “Yeah. Well, try not to break a hip out there, old man.”

-- Commercial Break --

Kevin Nash vs. Shannon Moore
The “match” between Kevin Nash and Shannon Moore never begins. Shannon Moore first makes his entrance, but before he can even leave the stage area, “Big Daddy Cool” runs from the back, verbally motivated by President Bischoff and attacks the young superstar. Kevin Nash gives Shannon Moore a big boot twice and gives him a Jackknife powerbomb on the ground. President Bischoff, unsatisfied, motivates Kevin Nash to do something else. Kevin Nash does … he lifts Shannon Moore up in the Jackknife position and forcefully throws Shannon Moore into the SmackDown entrance set. Shannon Moore bounces off the set and falls to the ground motionless. Kevin Nash puts his foot on Shannon Moore’s back and screams to him, “Too bad your buddy Goldberg wasn’t here!” Then Kevin Nash’s music hits and he and the WWE President make their departure.

Backstage, General Manager Stephanie McMahon is walking through the hallway on her cellular phone. Stephanie McMahon stops beside a crowd of SmackDown superstars a grabs a Krispy Kreme doughnut. She continues down the hall and grabs a folder full of papers from her assistant, Johnny Smoove. She continues to her office, trying to juggle a cellular phone and a folder, eating a doughnut. She turns around and opens the door, still trying to juggle the items and she gets into her office. Stephanie McMahon turns around and there are candles everywhere. Stephanie McMahon is startled and she drops everything and smiles sprightly and walks to the door, guided by rose peddles. Stephanie opens the door and she walks into the luxurious bathroom. In the bathroom, there are candles everywhere and the bathtub is filled with bubbled water and on the edge of the tub is a bottle of champagne and a picture of her husband, Kurt Angle. There is a note taped on the back of it that says, “Couldn’t be there to enjoy this with you. Happy anniversary, Steph. With love, Kurt.” Stephanie McMahon emotionally melts and she looks at the bubble bath and then removes her suit jacket and the cameras fade out.

Backstage, Rey Mysterio is with Gene Okerlund to announce who his partner is for tonight’s tag match against John “Bradshaw” Layfield and his partner. Rey Mysterio introduces his tag team partner, the runt of the liter, Spike Dudley. Spike Dudley seems very enthusiastic and he says that tonight, he and Rey are going to send a message to JBL: “Rey Mysterio will be the next U.S. Champion.” Rey Mysterio leaves his partner behind, after Spike Dudley tells him he needs to grab his elbow pads. Spike Dudley turns around and begins to walk to the lockerroom when his two brothers, Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley are standing on the side watching him. Spike stops and looks his brothers’ way and Bubba Ray Dudley smirks and says, “And you wonder why we think you suck?” Spike Dudley ignores this verbal shot and he continues to his destination.

-- Commercial Break --

Rey Mysterio & Spike Dudley vs. John “Bradshaw” Layfield & ? ? ?
We find out who JBL’s partner is when … Matt Hardy steps out of the JBL limousine after the reigning U.S. Champion. Matt Hardy has a heated history with both Rey Mysterio and Spike Dudley. Spike Dudley hates Rey Mysterio because his brothers shunned him and picked Matt Hardy to be their tag team partner for their Tables Elimination Match against Too Cool at August’s SummerSlam pay-per-view. Matt Hardy and Rey Mysterio have hated each other since weeks prior to the Ultimate TLC Match, for which they were forced to team up together, at WrestleMania XX. In the end, Rey Mysterio hits the 619 and the West Coast Pop on Matt Hardy to win the match. Afterwards, Spike Dudley attempts a Dudley Dog on JBL and JBL throws him to the outside, reversing. Rey Mysterio charges at JBL, but JBL moves aside and grabs Mysterio and gives him a back suplex. Rey Mysterio gets to his feet and JBL runs to the ropes, comes back and he hits the “Money Shot” (formerly named the “Clothesline from Hell”) on the #1 contender. JBL then proceeds to beat Rey Mysterio across the back until a back-aching Spike Dudley chases JBL off.

Backstage, the “Olympic Hero” Kurt Angle arrives in the arena in an indifferent mood. Kurt Angle is approached by Stephanie McMahon assistant Johnny Smoove. Johnny Smoove asks Kurt Angle whether he thinks this night is “special.” Kurt Angle says tonight is special, because he’s going to go out and show everyone just how much of a sportsman he is one week after John Cena beat him for the #1 contendership for the WWE title. Johnny Smoove then tells Kurt Angle that there’s something else that’s special. Kurt Angle is dumbfounded and Johnny Smoove hums “Here Comes the Bride.” Kurt Angle remarks, as he waves his wedding band, “Yeah, I’m married.” Johnny Smoove then says, “What amount of time has there been since September 2nd, 2004 and September 2nd, 2003?” Kurt Angle says a year and Smoove hums “Here Comes the Bride” again. The camera then focuses on Kurt Angle’s face and he exclaims after a long pause, “What in God’s name are you trying to say?!” “Today is your wedding anniversary!” Johnny Smoove yells back. Kurt Angle is absolutely startled and petrified. Kurt Angle maintains that “isn’t possible,” but Johnny Smoove ensures him it is. Kurt Angle goes to rush off, but Johnny Smoove stops him and says with a smirk, “Don’t worry, I gotcha covered.” Kurt Angle asks how and Smoove replies, “Let’s just say your wife is enjoying a hot, champagne bubble bath, courtesy of her husband.” Kurt Angle’s eyes lit up and he expresses the deepest, ineffable joy. Kurt Angle grabs Johnny Smoove’s head and kisses him on the forehead. Kurt Angle exclaims, “In Stephanie’s gift to me, I’m asking for two things, and one of which is a promotion for Johnny Smoove. Johnny, you’re a prince!” Kurt Angle turns, leaves, and lets out a huge “Woooooo.” Johnny Smoove then turns and leaves, so proud of himself.

-- Commercial Break --

When SmackDown returns, the cameras are inside of General Manager Stephanie McMahon’s office. Then the Doctor of Thuganomics and #1 contender for the WWE Championship, John Cena walks in and the crowd in the arena cheers intensely. John Cena is at first confused at first, but then he whispers to himself, “Oh, yeah, anniversary.” Announcer Michael Cole quips, “It seems everyone remembered Stephanie and Kurt’s anniversary ... except Kurt Angle that is.” John Cena walks up to the bathroom door, opens it and goes. The General Manager of SmackDown has her eyes closed in her warm bathtub with a glass of champagne in her hand, and “Smooth Operator” by Sade is playing on a small radio. John Cena startles her and Stephanie McMahon smiles and says hello. John Cena then says, “Oh, Tazz, is gonna really get his panties in a bunch now, Steph. Last week you were fraternizing and now you’re drinkin’ on the job.” “What do you want, John? Can’t you see I’m trying to enjoy my bubble bath prepared by my romantic husband?” John Cena looks confused and then says, “Since when you and Johnny hooked up?” The crowd roars with cheers and laughter and Stephanie says, “What?” John Cena smirks and says, “Nothing, baby. Ignorance is bliss.” John Cena grabs the bottle of champagne and blows a kiss at Stephanie McMahon before leaving the bathroom. Stephanie smiles and closes her eyes again and goes back to her relaxation.

Main-Event
Rob Van Dam vs. Eddie Guerrero
The cameras go to the arena and it’s time for the heavily-hyped main-event between “Latino Heat” Eddie Guerrero and “Mr. Thursday Night” Rob Van Dam. Eddie Guerrero is very serious about tonight and he doesn’t even come out in his lowrider. Tazz sees this an opportunity to imply that Eddie Guerrero is still bitter because Rob Van Dam eliminated him from the SummerSlam Elimination Chamber match two weeks ago on pay-per-view. Rob Van Dam, on the other hand, is him arrogant, confident self. Rob Van Dam seems to have no fear, and Tazz offers his opinion again, saying, “I think Rob Van Dam can sense that Eddie Guerrero is in one of his reckless, angry modes and he’s going to exploit that, no doubt.” In the end of tonight's main-event, with the referee out, Eddie Guerrero goes outside of the ring and gets a steel chair. Eddie Guerrero backs into the ring and he hits Rob Van Dam in the gut with the chair and then lies down on the mat, playing possum. The referee is then getting up and so does Eddie Guerrero, trying to "sell" his injury. Then Rob Van Dam gets up and he takes out a pair of brass knuckles him a his right boot and as Eddie Guerrero, gets up slowly, "selling", Rob Van Dam strikes him in the back of the head with the brass knucks. Rob Van Dam then goes to the top rope, jumps off and nails the Five Star Frog Splash on Eddie Guerrero. Rob Van Dam makes the cover, the referee counts and "Mr. Thursday Night" wins in a rather controversial fashion. Afterwards, Rob Van Dam leaves with a huge smile on his face. The camera then zooms in, before SmackDown goes its last commercial break on Eddie Guerreor unconscious in the ring.

-- Commercial Break --

When SmackDown returns, Kurt Angle's music hits and the "Olympic Hero" comes out. Kurt Angle stands in the middle of the ring and he says that there has always been a misconception about him. Kurt Angle says that people have always believed that despite what he said, he was a dishonest thief. The crowd cheers and Kurt Angle that tonight, he's going to set the record straight and show everyone just how much of a sportsman he is. Kurt Angle says that he wanted to come here and addressed his "lost" to John Cena last week on SmackDown. Kurt Angle then asks that both Chris Benoit and John Cena come to the ring. First John Cena does and then the WWE Champion follows. All three stand in the middle of the ring, the most powerful and dominant superstars on SmackDown, and Kurt Angle says that as he promised, justice will be delivered tonight and he will prove himself to be a sportsman. Kurt Angle then says, "Ladies and gentlemen, I want you all to see this." Kurt Angle then extends his hand to Chris Benoit. It takes a very long time for Chris Benoit to accept and then he shakes Kurt Angle's hand. Kurt Angle then turns and extends his hand to John Cena. John Cena takes a long time to accept as well, but he finally does. As Kurt Angle and John Cena are shaking hands, Kurt Angle says, "John, believe it or not, I respect. However, I hate to disappoint, but as far as your match with Chris Benoit at Unforgiven ... you're gettin' nothing!" John Cena snatches his hand from Kurt Angle and Kurt continues, "Roll the damn footage!" The footage from last week's main-event rolls on the titantron and it shows John Cena with the Angle Lock on Kurt Angle. Kurt Angle comments, "What's wrong with that picture?" Then a green circle appears around Kurt Angle's right leg which is hanging outside of the ring. Kurt Angle then says, "My freakin' leg was out of the ring! You didn't win that match! It was supposed to continue. Again, I hate to disappoint you, John, but despite what you may have thought, no, you're no better than I am. Now let's get Mike Chioda out here to reverse that decision." John Cena seems very disappointed and shocked by this and so does Chris Benoit. Then Mike Chioda, the referee from last week's match comes from back. Mike Chioda gets in the ring and Kurt Angle says, "All right, Chioda, do the right thing ... reverse the damn decision!" Mike Chioda is handed the microphone and he takes a long time to reach his decision. He looks around and then sternly says ... "No!" Kurt Angle's eyes pop open and both Chris Benoit and John Cena have smiles on their faces. Kurt Angle gets on the microphone and he says, "You sonofabitch, reverse the damn decision!" Mike Chioda snatches the microphone back from Kurt Angle and says, "I said no! I made my decision last week and I'm not changin' it!" Kurt Angle is steaming and then he says, "You sonofa --" Then Kurt Angle dashes over and he attacks John Cena! Kurt Angle punches away at the Doctor of Thuganomics and then Chris Benoit drops his WWE title belt, goes over, grabs Kurt Angle and he gives the "Olympic Hero" a German suplex! Then John Cena gets to his feet and lifts Kurt Angle up on his shoulders and ... drops Kurt Angle with the FU! Then John Cena's music hits and he shakes hands with Mike Chioda and Chris Benoit. Chris Benoit, John Cena, and Mike Chioda get out of the ring and they begin to go the back and then suddenly, "I'm back ..." Eric Bischoff's music hits! The WWE President walks out on the stage area with a microphone, as Kurt Angle begins to recover in the ring. President Bischoff says, "I don't think so, gentlemen. You see, I'm the President of World Wrestling Entertainment and in this matter, I'll give the last word. Oh and first, lemme get some unimportant, insiginificant business out of the way: Mike Chioda, you're fired! Now get the hell out of my arena immediately before I have your ass thrown in a jail downtown!" Chris Benoit and John Cena seem concerned for Mike Chioda and then he says after he rushes up to Eric Bischoff, "I'll change the decision." Eric Bischoff insists, "It's too late for that." Mike Chioda leaves and President Bischoff continues as Kurt Angle watches on in the ring, "Now I know people look at me as some sort of bad guy, but this time, I'm on the right side. John Cena, you didn't beat Kurt Angle last week, and unfortunately, Kurt Angle didn't beat you. So I'll get right down to it: Chris Benoit vs. John Cena vs. Kurt Angle at Unforgiven in a triple threat match for the WWE Championship!" Then President Bischoff's music hits and he throws down the microphone, turns around and leaves. Then Chris Benoit and John Cena stare at Kurt Angle and the "Olympic Hero" looks back with a smile on his face. Then Kurt Angle's music hits and his staredown with Chris Benoit and John Cena continues, as SmackDown goes off the air!
