Hello and welcome to the VERY FIRST Complete Shot on WrestlePower!
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Before we get started, for those of you who may not have any idea who I am, I'll give a short intro.
My name is Josh Pesme from Ontario Canada. I am 19, making me the youngest WP columnist here. I've been a wrestling fan for about 6 years. My favs are Taker, Theadore Long, Austin, HBK, Cena, Eddie, Benoit, Angle and Jericho. Oh, silly me! How could I forget? My ABSOLUTE FAV is Stevie Richards.
From me, on WP, you will see two different columns. The Complete Shot, where I will discuss The Good, The Bad & The Ugly of a current WWE character or storyline.
I also will write A Shot in the Dark which will be a Raw and SmackDown! review that will come to you every Tuesday and Friday.
Being my first official Complete Shot here at WrestlePower, I am going to talk about Shelton Benjamin. However, for future columns, I would love to hear about what you would like me to talk about. So get those thinking caps on and start brainstorming.
Shelton Benjamin
The Good
Benjamin made his debut in the WWE alongside Charlie Haas as a member of Team Angle just over year ago. Team Angle was thrust right into the tag team title hunt and ended up winning the titles after they beat Eddie and Chavo. At WrestleMania 19, the two had their first Mania matches as they competed in a triple threat for the tag team titles face Los Guerreros and Benoit & Rhyno. Team Angle left Mania still the tag champs. On the same night, however, Kurt Angle had his final match against Brock Lesnar and was put out of action for the next couple of months. After WrestleMania, for a short little while, Team Angle was left without a cause and were sent down to Velocity ranks. Soon, however, they found themselves in a ladder match for the titles at Backlash against Eddie & Tajiri (who replaced an injured Chavo). Unfortunately, they lost the titles. The two were yet again just another tag team thrown by the wayside. However, that changed when Angle made his return just a few short months later. Benjamin & Haas dumped their former leader and became known as the Self-Proclaimed World's Greatest Tag Team. As the WGTT, they acheived minimal success. Feuding with the likes of APA, Brock & Angle and other sleeper teams. Then, along came the draft lottery. the WGTT was split up and Shelton was sent to Raw. The following Monday, Shelton had the oppertunity of a lifetime when he had a main event match against Triple H. Shelton went toe-to-toe with Trips and matched him for every move. Out of nowhere, the rookie pulled out the victory on the biggest dog on Raw! Shelton is a phenominal talent, and I'm incredibly happy to see that he is finally being used to his full potential.
The Bad
As of yet, I foresee nothing wrong with Shelton's current direction. So long as the WWE doesn't screw it up.
The Ugly
Shelton has the potential to become a major player in the WWE. He's got the talent and he's got the ability. The only things that he really needs to work on are his mic skills and defining his character.
That's it for this week. I'll be back tomorrow with A Shot in the Dark.
