h2 Pro Wrestling's Court Bauer and Teddy Hart were the first two guests on this week's edition of Trash Talking Radio. To listen to the interview yourself, you can go to http://www.trashtalkingradio.com and click the link for the archives.
The two guests were introduced as the "masterminds behind H2 Pro." The first question asked was about H2 having to reschedule their first show. Court said the building, the Sommervile Theatre in Somerville, MA, was "spooked out of honoring their contract" and that they are currently pursuing litigation against the building. He said that caused the company to have to postpone their show for thirty days, and that they had to change up some talent and matches, but he thinks for the better.
The host asked about the six-sided ring. Teddy Hart said they also have an eight-sided ring with platforms on all the turnbuckles, which will enable three or four guys to be standing on the turnbuckles at the same time. Hart said that is the goal of the company, to try innovative new things and keep the fans happy.
They talked about the talent on the show, with Court saying they had some great new talent that will be stars in the next ten years and will define the next generation of wrestling talent.
The host asked Court about people getting emails about a new MLW. Court said he doesn't know anything about it, but that the people that are backing H2 also own the MLW footage and are using it in Japan. He suggests they are probably running out of footage, since there were only 35 episodes. He said they are probably looking for more footage. They asked him if he wanted to do it again and he turned them down. Court said he is dedicated to H2. He said he was told the backers said they were probably going to do a "one-off taping once in a blue moon" but that's all he knows. He said they asked him for his recommendations on who he thinks should run MLW, but that's where they are at the moment. Court says he is not involved.
The host asked whose "brainchild" was H2. Court said it was a combination of he and Teddy Hart. Hart said there are so many indy promotions out there and that they are all very similar and that he wanted H2 to be different. He said the lighting would be different and that it won't be like any other wrestling show you've seen. He said the fans will be able to come in and see what the wrestlers are like and interact with them, and that it wouldn't cost anything for autographs. He said an hour later the show may start. He said you never know when the show is going to start or when it will end. He said so much of their talent is crazy and reckless, and that H@ is giving them the green light, unl;ike others promotions he will not name that hold back talent. He said this is talent that is probably pissed off at other companies right now for being held back. He said that's why H2 is able to use them.
Court added that this is going to be a "no fear, free" style of show where you can see anything and everything. He siad they won't be holding the talent back.
Hart said that he has always thought that wrestlers could do a lot more and always wondered what was stopping them. He said as a wrestler he has learned that it's not due to wrestlers' lack of motivation or creativity, but that the promoters are the ones that aren't creative and that most of them have never been pro wrestlers. He basically said most promoters don't have a clue about wrestling or what wrestlers are capable of. Hart said that he has a measuring stick and that if a wrestler can't compare with what he's doing, they probably won't be on his show a second time. He said if you're not as big a daredevil as him, they better impress him with something or they won't be on his show.
Hart says that wrestling fans work hard for a small amount of money and that they are spending their money to see him wrestle. He said the least he can do is "go out there and die for them." He said that way their will be no doubt in the fans minds as to whether they got their money's worth, that they will know Ted Hart and H2 put on the greatest show on earth. He said he will not handcuff his wrestlers like some other promoters, whom he said he would not name. He said that one of them starts with four letters. He said wrestlers are tired of working for "******* promoters." He said "Ted Hart is your savior" and to come to his show and he will save you $20 to $50 in the future wasting your money on indy promotions that don't cater to you.
The host asked where the name H2 came from. Court said the origin of the name will start being revealed on their upcoming TV shows. Court said to get back to the talent, he and Hart sat down in March and made a list of guys they wanted to use and guys they didn't want to use. He said MLW had a reputation for being where guys go to have bad matches. He said if he sees any of that on his shows he will go out and fire the guy on the spot.
Hart asked if they were allowed to swear on the show. The host said it was okay. Hart said he was trying to watch his language but that it was easier to get through the promos faster by insulting promoters the way he wanted "without all the 'ums' and 'ohs' in there."
Hart said when he was in MLW he saw a lot of hungry talent that would never get a break anywhere unless he opened up a company. He said in H2 it's not about "how much ass you kiss or your secual preference." He said workers should be booked according to whether or not the fans like them and that the guys will work ten times harder on his shows than anywhere else, because there will be no handcuffs. He said you will see how many different moves they can create, how many unbelievable bumps they can take, and how many times they can get the fans to think they broke their neck. He said H2 is catering to the fans, and that their talent is like seeing "Michael Jordan before he was Michael Jordan." He said all their wrestlers are ready to go out there "and try to die for you, because before we were spoiled wrestlers riding in limos," they were fans looking for autographs.
The host said he didn't mean to insult Hart, but he is assuming being a Hart that he came up being around wrestling 24-7 and that H2 isn't going to be just a spotfest and that they will concentrate on some mat wrestling as well. Hart said he isn't "looking to sh+t on Ring of Honor" and that they have a very nice style of wrestling where you get the feeling you are watching a shootfight. He said he and Court are fans of Ring of Honor and that they like some of their guys. He said "it's their managerial team that we think are *******s that have very, very big egos and that don't want to work with anybody else because they're afraid of competition." He said that if Ring of Honor was truely the best company out there that they should have no trouble helping out their competition. He said that even Vince McMahon can see that without competition that wrestling has become stagnant. He said you would think that Gabe Sapolsky and Cary Silkin would want to work with H2 on a show and have two great shows instead of one. He said instead ROH is forcing ROH and H2 to compete. He said all he can say is that Ring of Honor has a great style of wrestling but that they "can't touch the high flying." He said you don't have to climb to the top rope to know how to wrestle. He says the fans may not even be wrestling fans right now. He said they are more interested in seeing a backflip than headlock. He said if you want to see wrestling that H2 also has the best technical wrestlers on earth, and that he guarantees you will see the best all-around show. He said his guarantee means something in this business and that if he says he's going to go off thirty feet that he goes off thirty feet, and that he has never said he was going to be at a show that he didn't show up for. He said he was sorry for feds like CZW and Jersey All Pro, but if he kept going out and working for everyone for nothing that H2 wouldn't be so special anymore. He said this is a chance for fans to see Ted Hart as an owner, promoter and wrestler. He said you will see his creative side and that it will reflect on all the other wrestlers H2 is bringing in.
Court said that H2 is not catering to the internet. He said if they like them then that just shows that they have good taste. He said that they are catering to the hardcore wrestling fan and that if that means they don't go on the internet and just watch MTV or BET that that is cool too. He said H2 is just about getting wrestling back to being fun and that that is when wrestling was good. He said the show isn't about the guys trying to get themselves over and that the show begins when they hit the ring.
Hart said most of their wrestlers have already made their names. Court agreed.
The host said that when he looked at the line-up he already recognized 80 percent of the names. He said he feels every one of the guys is deserving and a class act as far as what they can do in the ring. Court said you will see everything from a double moonsault to a 65- 80 minute match. He said they have that versatility that you don't see anywhere else.
Hart said that former ROH owner Doug Gentry said that one of ROH'sproblems was that you didn't get the kind of interesting matches the fans want to see "because the promoters didn't have the b+lls to control the boys." Hart said he offered a match with him and Steve Corino several times and that Corino has been a "perfect gentleman about it" but that he has made a few personal comments about him that he's not too happy about, but as professionals they always made it possible to have their match and that he always wanted to have the match with Corino. He said the promoters at ROH "don't have the balls to book those high profile matches." He said they wouldn't book a CM Punk vs Ted Hart match or an AJ Styles vs Ted Hart match or Jack Evans vs Red or even Hart vs Samoa Joe. He said if Ring of Honor was really an honorable company and wanted to make the fans happy that they would go out and make these matches happen, but they never did. He said since they missed out that H2 is taking advantage and is going to give you the matches you want to see. Hart went on to talk smack about CM Punk and tried to sound like a badass. He continued saying they will give you the matches that no other promoter has the balls to book. He said he would like to work a match with John Zandig's son, even though he still has personal issues with him. He said there is going to be tons of contriversy. He said half the time even he doesn't know what he is going to do.
The host asked if the Corino thing was really a shoot. Hart said it was completely a shoot. Hart said he respects Corino as a wrestler and that Corino may respect him as a wrestler, but that they don't like each other at all and that both of them have still said to their agents that they want a match against each other. He said they are going to make the match happen when they can. He said he respects Corino for traveling all over the world, but says he could "kick the living sh+t out of Steve Corino."
The host asks why they decided to start out in Boston. Court said it was the history of Boston. He said their are some good people in Boston that are helping that want to see H2 succeed and that they feel Boston is an area they feel they can work regularly. He said Hart has his eye on some other areas as well.
Teddy Hart says to Court that he hasn't told him this yet, but that he is bringing a special guest to the show. He said he isn't telling anyone who it is, but that he will have an individual at the show that has something to say that is going to affect the industry. He said listening to this one guest speak will be worth the price of admission. Hart says he guarantees that H2 will be one of the most controversial companies in the history of pro wrestling.
Court Bauer leaves the show.
The host asks Hart how long he has been in the business. Hart says he has been in the business for around eight years.
The host asks what happened with the Peterson Cup. Hart said he was injured. He said he had a cut above his eye, which wasn't a big deal, but that he has had problems with his knee "since that 30 foot moonsault" in ROH. He said that company in the state that it was he wasn't going to risk further injury. Hart said he has shows with H2, Matrats, and a show with Bret Hart on ESPN in the future, so he wasn't going to risk firther injury and didn't think he could have a good match. He said he didn't want to go out there and not perform to his standards and that he would rather have the fans say he faked an injury and "fix their opinion" later on. He said the fans say things they don't mean and later realize that they were wrong and that they will dome back and apologize to him. Hart at this point starts rambling on and on about nothing in particular (starting to wonder if Hart is taking promo lessons from the Ultimate Warrior). Hart said he is looking to be a "small time Vince McMahon" if he can, but with better morals.
Host asks who Hart's dream opponent would be that is not related to him. Hart says he would love to wrestle Shawn Michaels from WWE, AJ Styles from the indys, and Kanemoto from New Japan. He also mentions Kobashi or Misawa from All Japan. He mentions Steve Corino from Zero-One.
Hart said he offered CM Punk a match, and that he wasn't going to dis Punk because he has been very professional since the incident between the two happened.
The host asked if Hart was refering to the incident from TNA where Hart "boxed" him. Hart says he put himself over enough on that and that he isn't commenting on it anymore. He said if he had lost the fight that everyone on the net would have known since everything he does good or bad gets out there. He said he never even barely got hit. He said he wouldn't have commented that much except that he heard Punk lying a few times saying that he did better than he did. He said in a shoot he would beat Punk with a 15 second submission. He said they're professionals and that Punk has accepted a call from him and maybe they will have a match down the line, or maybe they will fight again on the street, or maybe they'll shake hands and put it behind them.
The host asked how long Hart thinks he will last in the business with the high injury rate of high fliers. Hart says he was a technical wrestler when he started "comparable to Bret Hart or Chris Benoit" and said he is a better technical wrestler than most of the guys in WWE. He said his technical wrestling ability right now is "untouchable." He said he changed his style to show the fans that he has the guts to give them what they want. He said the chances of him not making it to WWE are slim. He said he is working now for almost nothing and he is doing it for the people. He said the fans show they love him by spending their money to see him work. He says he shows them he loves them by climbing 20 to 30 feet and putting his balls on the line and jumping. He said if he makes it or not is up to God and no one else. He said no one else can say that because they don't live his lifestyle, haven't helped as many people, or done as much for the fans as he has. He said he did a moonsault a few days ago in Buffalo and may have fractured his heel, but that he will still be at H2. He said he will be in the ring vs Jack Evans no matter what it takes. Hart rambled on about how great he is and how humble he is (yes, I know, he's a walking, talking oxymoron). Hart rambles on about how WWE used to have such great stars that deserved to be there and now they have guys that don't deserve their spots. He mentions Benoit and Guerrero as exceptions. Hart says the fans are getting screwed because WWE is telling their guys to do less and less stuff in the ring. By the way, the question to Hart was how long he thought he would last in wrestling with his style. If you could find an answer in that extremely long tirade, you are better than I am.
The host talked about older stars not wanting to put over new talent. Hart said guys like Ric Flair have no business in the ring and that no one wants to see Flair taking the same crappy bumps and that he needs to move on and get out of the way. He said Flair should teach his son how to wrestle. He said Flair was too busy taking care of himself to take care of his son. He said he likes David Flair and that he was truely ripped off by his dad. He said Ric Flair was too greedy to move out of the spotlight and that there are lots of stars having to do jobs to Ric Flair now, because Flair obviously doesn't feel that he is really "the Man" and doesn't feel he has done enough in wrestling. Hart said he was going after Flair now for going after Bret Hart. He said Shawn Michaels dissing Bret didn't bother him because he only dissed Bret's ability and Shawn had some of the best moves and matches in the world and could say what he wanted to. He said Flair has no business talking because he has done the "same, boring ass routine for the last twenty years." He said he doesn't think Flair is a wrestler. Hart went on a rambling, profanity laced tirade at this point, I think trying to dis WWE for not pushing new talent.
The host brought up the AJ Styles vs Chris Daniels match from this past weekend at 3PW. Hart said if WWE was really for the fans they would be headlining their own shows with that match. He goes on another profanity laced tirade about WWE.
The host asks that since Hart is one of H2's owners if the promotion will be centered around him. Somewhere in the middle of his rambling about promotions being run by wrestlers, Hart says he will not put himself over just because he is the owner. He says his work will speak for itself. Ou of nowhere he starts talking smack about ROH and Gabe Sapolsky again. He said he doesn't like Gabe and Gabe doesn't like him. He said he has never felt comfortable working with Gabe or ROH as a company. He says he never believed anything he was told by Gabe after Rob Feistein left. He said ROH was on top for a while but they are about to come down. He talks about being thrown out of the ROH locker room and says Gabe tried to ruin his reputation. He says Rob Feinstein and Doug Gentry were always good to him. He said he hoped ROH could provide good competition for him, because it is now ROH vs H2.
The host asks if being a Hart has helped Teddy to get to the point he is at more quickly. Hart says it helped in some ways and in some ways it didn't. He said because the Harts that came before him were so good he can't screw up a match or he'd never hear the end of it. He says he has to perform at a certain level. He says that since he does perform at that level that he is instantly compared to Bret, Owen, Devey Boy Smith, Dynamite Kid, Benoit and so on. He says if he does well he is instantly compared with the greatest in the world and if he doesn't do well he is instantly bashed because those guys had such great matches.
The host asks about Christopher Daniels. Hart says he likes Daniels, but he has been in the indys for a long time now and he feels he is a little overexposed. He says Daniels needs new gimmick or new tag team partner or something. He said he would lve to team with Daniels.
The host asks who Hart was most influenced by when he was training. Hart says he was trained by Leo Burke, and the he was also trained a little by Dory Funk, Bruce Hart and Ross Hart. He said he taught himself all the high flying stuff.
The host asked what other companies Hart was working for. Hart said he was only working for H2 now and was retured from the indies. He said he was working CZW for the fans, but that CZW had a problem paying him. Hart went on a tirade about CZW about how he was barely making any money with them, was flying himself in, working his ass off and wasn't appreciated for it. He said he wasn't fired from CZW, but that he quit and never wants to go back. He said he will only go back for a match against John Zandig or his son. He says he wants to put Zabdig's son in a wheelchair.
The host asks if Zandig's son is even a wrestler. Hart says Zandig's son is a wannabe wrestler that hasn't got the balls to tell his dad he wants to be part of the show. Hart says he won't work for CZW again until John Zandig comes to work for him in H2. Hart goes on another long tirade about CZW and Zandig. He says CZW and Zandig made him look like an idiot by telling other promoters that he works for them for $200 when he had been working for everyone else for $500. He said he didn't work Best of the Best because CZW was going to pay him only $80 per match for four matches and that they wanted him to fly himself out, which would have cost himself $1000. He also gave a long list of injuries that he claims he had.
Hart then goes on a long profanity laced tirade about Frank Goodman.
Hart says anyone can say anything they want about him, because he still owns H2, he's still stsrting a promotion with Bret Hart, and he's still starting a company next year called Matrats.
The host asks how Hart dug up Gary Hart. Hart says that was all Court Bauer. He says Court is a genius and does a lot behind the scenes and no one ever gives him the credit he deserves. He says Court started MLW with his own money and paid everyone top dollar, unlike ROH. Hart goes on another tirade about Gabe Sapolsky, and says Gabe is ripping off the talent, ripping off Rob Feinstein, and ripping off Doug Gentry. He says Gabe ripped off Jack Evans by not flying him out to the shows. He said he called Rob Feinstein and asked him about this and he said Feinstein told him that when he left the company that he left strict orders that Jack Evans should be flown out to all the ROH shows. He says Gabe will pay the price for manipulating people and taking control away from the wrestlers.
The host asks how Chasyn Rance's training is going. Teddy says it is going better than he expected. He said he thought he was a p++++ when he first got up there, but he beat the crap out of him in the dungeon the first couple days and that most of the guys go home after that, but he didn't. He says he's doing better and that he has about a month and a half left at the dungeon before going back to Florida. He says he understands the opportunity he has been given and is taking advantage of his time at the dungeon.
The host starts going over the card for H2's first event on July 31. Hart doesn't even know the name of the building, saying that that is all Court's area and that Hart is only the booker and only works on the setups of matches. The first match mentioned is Michael Modest vs Matt Martel. They talked briefly about Martel. The next match is Jay Lethal vs Quiet Storm. Hart says that should be a great match and that the two trained together for a while and that Storm has been working for New Japan. He says he feels Lethal is the best black talent in the business today besides Ruckus. Next match is Minamino vs Ishimori. Hart says he knows nothing about either and that Court picked those two. The next match mentioned was Havana Pitbulls vs SAT. Hart said the Pitbulls wouldn't be there due to Japanese commitments. He says they are thinking of bringing in another team for the SAT. He said he would like to bring in the Briscoes. He says he like to use ROH talent because he feels he can show them in a different way than ROH. He said if ROH was really a company of honor that they would allow their talent to go back and forth as much as they can. Next match is Chris Hero vs Austin Aries. Hart says Aries has unlimited potential and just needs the high profile matches to show what he can do. Next match is a Boston Violence Party with Sabu vs Super Dragon. Hart says the match is looking to be very interesting but he still may change that match. He said when you have Sabu on your show that anything can happen. Next match is Hart vs Jack Evans. Hart says they are going to create a lot of new moves that night. Hart says Evans is the best athlete in wrestling today. Hart says he is even better than him, but that he knows more ring psychology than Evans. The host asks where are the Stampede Bulldogs. Hart says one of them is in Japan, which is why they aren't booked. Hart says they will be coming into H2 down the road.
The host asks about the upcoming show with Bret. Hart says he can't talk about it and that it's confidential. Hart says that when Bret comes back he will absolutely rock the wrestling world. Hart says he has a guest coming to H2. He says it may be Bret and may not be. He says you never know who it may be, but that the guest will make an impact. Hart says the guest will be "mindblowing" and that "when he gets the chance to say what he's going to say, he's going to set the record straight." Hart says after this guest that Ted Hart will be the most controversial man ever.
Hart finishes up by putting himself over, along with H2 and his guest that will be at the show.
You can listen to the entire show, which also featured ROH owner Cary Silkin and the legendary Tully Blanchard, by going to http://www.trashtalkingradio.com. Trash Talking Radio airs every Tuesday night from 7:00 to 10:00.
Pretty intresting read. Teddy just really seems to confuse me. One minute he sounds like an ******* who's trying to get himself over by sounding like a badass. The next minute he's saying how much he loves the fans and stuff like that. I'm a little conflicted about Teddy because I'm a fan of him as a wrestler and I respect that he cares about the fans but on the other hand, I like ROH and CM Punk and most of the people that Hart disses.
The two guests were introduced as the "masterminds behind H2 Pro." The first question asked was about H2 having to reschedule their first show.
