Anyone watch this? Results give the lie to D2KV's idea of all main events being decided by punches in the first round.

Basically, Sonnen gave Silva a four and a half round thrashing yet got caught by a submission out of nowhere. Gotta feel sorry for the guy as I doubt any rematch would be half as good.

Fitch gave Alves a masterclass in mat wrestling over three rounds.

Hughes put Almeida to sleep literally with a nasty choke.

Dos Santos hit Nelson with as many punches as in the last five heavyweight boxing world title fights yet couldn't put him out. Kudos to the big guy.

Guida broke Dos Anjos jaw yet he lasted another round and a bit before he gave up.

Then in the prelims Struve got beat up for a round before flooring Morecraft with a nasty punch early in the second round.

Watch if you get the chance - a varied card full of impressive punching, good wrestling and clever submissions

I watched the fights. The entire card was back and forth brutal battles and a bunch of hungry guys showing they wanted to be tthe best in the world. Great fights and alot of crazy endings.
I knew Silva was dangerous on the ground, as he has caught someone in that triangle before after getting dominated on the ground for awhile, no where near 4 rounds, if even one. But I knew he was a threat and had a chance to catch something. Two minutes left in a fight that your dominating has to be a shitty way to get caught. But thats what happens when you let up a little bit on one of the most dangerous champions in UFC history.

Fitch was impressive, but also not. He is definitely a grinder and is one of the few people (like Chael) who can keep people interested in a wrestling game. But he isnt AS interesting as Chael, he does alot of position gaining but doesnt do much beyond that. Thiago will hopefully be forced to 185 so he can make weight.

Hughes used an illegal college wrestling move and got a Submission of the night bonus for it, because Dana had never seen it before. Silva also got fight of the night and submission bonus. Struve got the KO.

Great fights. Cant wait for 118 in a couple weeks.
