I tuned in to SD! at the normal time tonight and I don't know if there was a mix up or not but i think they showed Velocity by mistake.
That was one of the most pathetic shows I've ever seen. Topped off by one of the worst booked "serious" title matches in recent history. About the only good thing coming out of tonight is maybe Angle's comeback.
I think Cena needs to go back to his raps because his regular promos suck. Note to Cena: Its "lollipop guild" not "lollipop kids".
And now they're bringing back John Heidenreich and HYPING it? Don't they have enough big, ****ty guys right now?
Considering that this is the beginning of the lead up to SummerSlam it seems like both RAW and SD! really missed this week.

Damn, dude, Smackdown wasn’t that bad at all. Jesus Christ.
In the first segment, Booker T, Rene Dupree, and Kenzo Suzuki all came out and made their case as to why they should be given the United States title. I found this to be very amusing since Booker was the only credible candidate for the title. Rene Dupree, hasn’t won anything in the last couple of weeks and Kenzo has only beaten a couple of jobbers, which is why he isn’t over yet. Even casual fans know when a guy’s push is fluff, especially when you have the wrestling abilities of Kenzo Suzuki. Anyway, John Cena came out and as always, was very childish, boring, and repetitive. Cena then went to Mr. Angle’s office and demanded Angle give him back his title, which led to Cena and Luther Reigns brawling for a quick while before Cena threw Reigns through the wall. Albeit John Cena’s staleness I thought all of this was very entertaining and a great way to kick off Smackdown.
The first match was cruiser tag. It would Rey Mysterio and Spike Dudley against Chavo Guerrero and Jamie Noble. It’s very refreshing to see Jamie Noble and Spike Dudley getting airtime. Although the two most over cruiserweights, Mysterio and Guerrero (God, I miss Chavo Classic after seeing he and Chavo in the Summerslam ad commercial) were involved, Spike and Jamie still shined. I’m also glad to see that this just isn’t a one-week thing since Spike’s involved with his brothers and Jamie might be headed for a Cruiserweight title shot.
The 3-On-One handicap match that saw Kenzo/Booker/Rene take on John Cena was pathetic. Booker T was the only superstar in the ring that wasn’t green as hell and he definitely deserves better than this. I say bring Rhyno over from Raw and let him take Booker’s place in the mid-card. The former WCW champion deserves to be main-eventing. But I guess it’s a + to see Booker T beat John Cena for a chance.
I am not at all thrilled with John Heindenrich and Paul Heyman. But at least they are smart enough to pair John with Heyman. Paul Heyman’s the ultimate tool to get young guys over. But personally, I’d rather see Paul Heyman manage Matt Morgan. Now this guy had huge potential and I see him as a future U.S. champion.
Paul London beat D-Von Dudley. I don’t give a damn what anyone says, because damn it, I’m enjoying the Dudley Boys week after week. These guys are just great. Their wrestling has seemed to go a notch when they turned heel. And I especially enjoy Bubba Ray Dudley. He looked like a mean, nasty bully when he beat London across the back with his belt and then took out Billy Kidman. The Dudley Boys are refreshing as heels and I’m looking forward to their program with the new Tag champs.
JBL/Eddie Guerrero faced off in the main-event for the WWE title. There was some great building of this match coming up to Smackdown. The WWE really put this feud over the top and it ended nicely last night. The actual match wasn't all that great, but none of JBL’s matches are for that matter. In the end, El Gran Luchador, which turned out to be Kurt Angle, cost Eddie Guerrero the title.
Man, I’m looking forward to next week’s Smackdown and how these stories will progress. For the first time in a couple of months, we’re going to have two main-event angles going; Undertaker vs. JBL for the title (which is rumored to be the main-event on the Smackdown side of Summerslam) and Eddie Guerrero vs. Kurt Angle. It’s ****in’ great!
I’d give Smackdown a 7 or even a 7.5.

Wrestling is still not holding my attention and making itself more important than video games or other TV shows.

I enjoyed smackdown. It's definitaley picking up. I don't know where they are going to go with the Angle, Eddy, Bradshaw thing but maybe it will go somewhere good. john heidreneich will suck he almost injured 2 people already I don't think he'll do any good, he'll probably be forced to feud with 'taker inorder for taker to look like a monster again.

Well I haven't seen Smackdown, they will probably show it on Saturday because the stupid Dodgers played (PS: Dodgers won, YES) and they were playing in the same stupid channel and exact same stupid time as smackdown was about to begin. So they always show Smackdown on Saturday night so I'am going to have to wait but the show sounds pretty good.

Well, I was gonna start a thread about JBL, but since we have this Smackdown thread, I will post my thoughts here.
I actually feel that Smackdown is moving forward, meaning I feel the show is getting better. Right now, we have an intriguing web being woven concerning the US title. I like that three heels are bickering over who should be the US champ, as it gives the title a certain amount of credability. I think it is obvious that Cena is headed for a match with Kurt, that should propel him into the WWE Championship.
As for Kidman and London. It is an interesting move, but I like the fact that London and Kidman are getting tv time on SD. Both guys are great talents, who have formed a pretty good tag team. I wish they could come up with a name for them. I feel this would really solidify them and put importance on the tag team titles. I have always been a fan of tag team matches, and long for the days of The Road Warriors, The Russians, The Midnight Express, Rock-N-Roll Express and the Freebirds.
The only title I am not happy with right now is the Cruiserweight title. Rey has worn out his welcome in this division, and it is time he moved on to the US title. I honestly feel that Vince is trying his damndest to try and kill the division, which is very sad. I mean, how many more times are we gonna see Rey vs. Chavo? The belt hasn't been the same since Matt Hardy dropped it, which tells you just how viable a champion he was and what he meant to the belt. If Vince could see that the fans love these guys.
Now to JBL. I will admit, I was pissed that he wn the title. But now...I actually like the belt around him. Look, JBL isn't a ring technician. He isn't the most gifted athlete. Then again, Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan, Goldberg, Big Show and many others wre not wither. JBL's character works, and he has done a good job with it. I also have to give credit to Vince because he made the decision to push JBL.............and he stuck with it. That is what has helped Smackdown lately. Feuds are started and are not dropped in two weeks time. Well, at least the one's that matter. I watched the cage match this past Thursday and saw two things. One, even without the belt, Eddie is still way over, and that is a good thing for Smackdown. I never thought Eddie would be this over. I mean, I have always been a fan of him, but never in my mind did I see him becoming the "main man" on Smackdown. But he is, and I love it. Two, JBL has done nothing to diminish the WWE Championship, and to this point, he has been a good champion. I honestly felt that Eddie would win the title back in the cage, but found myself glad that he didn't. I want JBL to keep the belt for a bit and see how he does. He and Eddie have the two best characters on Smackdown, and I never thought I would or could say that about Bradshaw.

I'll admit that I was also pissed off when JBL won the WWE Championship. Then I realized that I have also been pissed about championship wins before (HHH's numerous wins, Big Show defeating Brock). The fact is that the JBL/Eddie fued could go down as one of the best fueds of the year.

Yeah I am just after watching Smackdown! and I have to say that I didnt think this weeks show was half bad, its the best I have seen in a while anyway.
The Cena and the contenders segment was okay IMO. It did what it had to do and that was show the importance of the US title belt. It let us see that four men want that belt desperately and that at the moment it is the most important thing to them. Book shouldnt be there but at least he is getting TV time. The handi-cap match showed us why Booker T is one of the best wrestlers out there at the moment. HE has the charisma and mat skills to be the WWE champion. They should put him there quickly before he retirers.
The Cruiser tag match, like Mac Daddy said, was bloody good. The four men in the ring all got a chance to shine and I am enjoying this thing they have brewing with the Dudleys. It makes for good TV and shows us that the Smackdown! creative team can come up with some good ideas.
John Heidenreich....... who cares? Matt Morgan should be where Johnny is. Last I checked, Matt was the OVW champion. Why oh why is Heidenreich getting on TV infront of him?
Paul London and Billy Kiddman is always a plus for me. These two are two of the best on the Smackdown! roster by a mile. Kiddman and London are innovators and know how to put togeather a tag or singles match. London has more charisma then Kiddman but Billy can do his talking in the ring. The match with D-von was a good outing and shows us that the Duds are one of the greatest team of heels ever, singles and tag.
JBL/Eddie was so so. Standard that I have come to expect from JBL but Kurt Angles appearence in the end was grade a stuff. I am so excited to see Angle out of the chair and back where he belongs. Kurt is one of the greatest that ever laced the boots and its good for Smackdown! that he can return. Eddie/Angle at SummerSlam is going to be a great, great match up. Smackdown! finally had a very solid ending.
Overall this was a really solid Smackdown! show. It got us rolling for SummerSlam. No Undertaker impact was a miss but what can you do? This Smackdown gets 7 IMO. It kept me wanting more and got me pumped up for next weeks show.

The end of SD is the only thing that I caught but it got me into SD for a little while now until they screw it up again. Really the only wrestling I give a crap about is TNA and Raw sometimes, now maybe SD can bring it back, for alittle while at least..

I believe this was the first time that Paul London actually wrestled on Smackdown for two weeks in a row. My hat goes off to him. But since I don't have a hat I'll just drink to that. But since I'm under age then I'll just give him a thumbs up. :winkok:
Anyway, quick question, when El Gran Luchador came out did anyone here the fans chant "Angle Sucks", I don't know if it was just me or not so did anyone else hear it as well?

SmackDown was pretty solid last night. I'm glad that Angle is out of the GM role and is returning to wrestling.

That's because you've just started back watching. To me that says you have much higher standards. But for those of us, who have stuck by the show through the extremely ****ty season following 'Mania, SD was a big improvement and was entertaining.
