Guarantee Heroes gets renewed since Leno got the boot.

Gravity

It shouldn't. It's way down in quality and ratings.

Though I'd be happy if it did, because they couldn't possibly cancel Chuck while renewing Heroes.

ABC
Better Off Ted
The Deep End
Grey’s Anatomy
Private Practice
Scrubs
V

I think these will all be back for sure. V is actually coming back soon as they have shot season 2. Scrubs will be back because to be honest it is way better than the original in writing. I love it. The Deep End was a good series thus far.

CBS
The Big Bang Theory
Cold Case
Criminal Minds
CSI
CSI: Miami
CSI: NY
How I Met Your Mother
NCIS
NCIS: Los Angeles
Numb3rs

These shows I watch as well. Love the new NCIS! Numb3rs will come back because its a staple for that company.

FOX
American Dad
Bones
Family Guy
Fringe.
Glee
House
The Simpsons

Fox has a great line-up with these shows. Bones, Fringe, House and Glee are going to be on through 2012 for sure.

NBC
Chuck
Heroes

NBC is seriously lacking good shows. Chuck has gotten way better now since the reboot!

A year ago I'd of been totally with you, but this season was a lot better then 2 & 3 were. I don't think the show has long left, but one more season yes. It ended with a "to be continued" so I'm sure they expect to return, and I think they've got a better chance then ever now. If Leno stayed, I wouldn't of been so hopeful.

ratings may be down, but thats because they changed the timeslot for heroes and put it up against more powerhouse shows (how i met your mother and 24) but this season was a lot better than season 2 and the first half of season 3, the second half of season 3 was more of a precursor for how this season would go, and the way they ended it they had better come back for a new season

Though I'd be happy if it did, because they couldn't possibly cancel Chuck while renewing Heroes.

If that happens, it is officially Grav's fault.
(Now, when the hell are Virgin 1 picking up season 3?)

I'd be happy if the axe fell on Desperate Housewives, that's for sure...

The Judge
02-15-2010, 03:38 PM
Desperate Housewives sucks, I can't believe that show made it as long as it has.

I agree with you on Heroes Mike. I think the main problem with the show is that the 2nd season and 3rd felt so removed from the first, like they hadn't planned it out all the way through or something, and as a result many of the characters who had strong stories intially completely fell off (Parkman, Nikki, Mohinder, even Peter). None of the new characters panned out well, and as a result the show stalled big time. They got back on track this year though by slowing it down and getting back to the character driven story instead of the characters just being lumped in. Sylar's redemption story has been the only real well planned story on that show, but this year everyone got their own demons to conquer so it was a much better story in the end. Even Claire was interesting instead of annoying this year... Most of it anyway.

I wonder how FlashForward will go... It's not nearly as good as I thought it'd be, but it's not as bad as it could be either. Still, it seems more suited to a mini-series then a full blown multiple season story to me, so I almost hope it all gets wrapped up this year.

V sucked ass. It sucked ass. Talk about boring you to sleep.

Lost I'll miss, but I'll be damned if I won't be watching the reruns well into my 50's, assuming I live that long. It's one of those shows that people talked shit off and on about for it's entire duration, but once it's all wrapped up and all the dumbasses who cried, "They'll never be able to tie this all together" end up being wrong, it'll be regarded as a classic. In my opinion, Lost changed TV forever, it set a new bar.

Chuck I can't comment on as I'm only just now about to start watching the 2nd season.

Smallville I watched until the end of season 7, but geez when is it gonna wrap up? Either bring Lex Luther back or end it. When exactly does he become Superman? Smallville is not on the same level as shows such as Lost and what not, it's more of a Buffy The Vampire type show in that every episode is pretty self-contained, but the whole cast seems to be gone. End it and make a new series called Superman, it's not Smallville anymore and it hasn't been for a while.

The Office I hope never ends. I seriously would love it if this was just a constant in TV for years to come.

24... I've watched it from the start, but jesus christ... Last year they advertised "CTU is gone!" because everyone fucking hated CTU, and they replaced it with a crappy washington office that was practically the same thing. Now... CTU is back! FFS, this season has been fucking awful and I don't even know if I want to watch anymore. End the show before everyone loses interest, because it's happening. Where's Zombie Tony?

Mike Adams
02-15-2010, 03:47 PM
tj.....honestly, get back into smallville my friend

holy hell if you are even remotely into the dc universe at all, you need to come back to smallville

and about heroes i really enjoyed samuel as the villain this year as i thought he was a nice break from the super-sylar we've seen before as samuel's most diabolical stuff was all very subtle and almost didnt involve using his powers at all, plus parkman embracing the dark side of his powers all throughout the season really made me smile

The Judge
02-15-2010, 03:49 PM
Oh I'll get back into it, just haven't had the time lately. I watched Seasons 1-7 in a matter of like, 4 months, so I just needed a breather.

I enjoyed that Heroes story too Mike, Samuel was excellent and I hope he's back next year and not just killed in the first episode like the yesteryear's villains typically are. The big question I have, will Sylar stay good or will he go back? Will he somehow sacrifice himself in the end sealing his redemption, or will he turn back to become the ultimate villain. Excellent story revolving around Sylar, almost like they read a Judge promo or something. (Ego trip)

Thanks for this......including the Heroes spoilers (we're only on Series 4 episode 7 or thereabouts. Grrrrrrrr.)
Just caught up with the last episode of the USA version of Life on Mars - wtf? I suppose that was a last minute throw together when it got cancelled because the UK version was much neater.
Excuse my ignorance - is V a remake of the old 80's lizard invader sci-fi nonsense or something else entirely?
I stuck with Flash Forward but only because it surely must end properly when they hit the relevant date. I wouldn't watch a second series (we're only half way through the first)

OK, what's new on that list that's worth watching? (And I'm not wasting my time on Glee unless there's tits in it) (Speaking of which - what's new on HBO? - they do some good stuff)

FlashForward: Could go either way.
Lost: Series finale airs May 23
Modern Family: Already renewed

Heroes: Could go either way.

These are the only shows I watch. I'm gutted that Dollhouse is cancelled because it had potential to be awesome once it got going.

I'm so glad Lost is coming to an end, I watch it and enjoy it, but enjoy it less and less each season apart from a few cool moments, I really just want the answers now and it to end.

Heroes I'll keep watching if there's another season but at the same time wouldn't be too upset if there wasn't.

Flash Forward I agree with Ken should just end after one season, it's ok but I'm really not interested in knowing any more after we get to "the date".

24 I love but after so long I won't be that bothered if it's cancelled it kinda does seem like it's time to move on and Jack to go and live with Kim or something(please no spoilers, I'm watching this on UK TV not online so we're only mid season).

Scrubs I love! I think they've got some cool new characters and it could be really good, I always enjoyed Scrubs but never really like J.D. so him leaving is a good thing for me! I love Denise!

Accidentally on Purpose I've only just started watching and it's quite funny at times but it's another one I'm not too bothered about.

All the rest I like are likely to be continued so I'm generally pretty happy :)

Also, I don't watch American Idol but it'll be interesting to see them carry on without Simon, especially going up against X Factor (which is a better format in my opinion, even though it does put too much focus on the judges and stroke their egos a little too much). I expect they'll only go against each other for one season and then they'll cancel one or the other and Simon will continue on with the show that remains.

It's going to be really hard to say good bye to lost.

Speak for yourself...

Hang on, does this mean somebody watched FlashForward after the first half dozen episodes?

Here in the UK, they could do worse than axe Silent Witness - the latest series has been bad - whilst Shameless ran out of ideas and plots by the end of the third series, by which time anyone who could act (James McAvoy, Maxine Peake, Anne-Marie Duff, Dean Lennox Kelly) had all left the show for pastures richer.

SW is still worth watching - the corpses they use are pretty life-like (.....or death-like, whatever works) and the stories usually OK though I refuse to believe any decent police force would let the university gunman walk out unquestioned like they did in the last series.
Shameless I always thought over-rated, mainly because I was thinking 'Shit, this is where my tax goes each year - to keep people like this in drink money' True about the acting though.

Unfortunately, the UK continue/cancel decisions don't all happen at once like in the US - sometimes a series would be renewed on the basis of a decent response to series 1, episode 1 and sometimes you would have to wait for 6 months after it's been shown to see if there's any interest in a new series. Hence, less 'buzz' about the decisions.

D2Kvirus
02-17-2010, 01:21 PM
Some of the plotlines in the current run of SW have been diabolical - more CSI: NY than, well, the good CSI. The worst thing about Shameless is you get the usual Paul Morley types saying how it empowers the working class with its gritty portrayal of life on the sink estates - when in actual fact it's one long, drawn-out joke about how people who live on council estates are theiving scum. Backed up by the fact they don't shoot it on a real estate anymore, because when they did the camera equipment got nicked.

Lark Rise to Candleford needs to go - but won't, as it's your typical BBC BAFTA magnet, even if it makes Cranford look like Dexter in comparison...

Late night Hollyoaks was cancelled wasn't it?

No, you're thinking of the long-axed spin-off(s) - Late Night Hollyoaks is the version they put on two or three times a year that features the cast suddenly swearing or getting "adult." In other words, you get as many episodes of that as you do of Skins.

E4 is a truly hideous channel to surf past at times - if it isn't those irritating trailers they put on, it's Skins, Glee, Friends for the 10,000th time, various Big Brother spin-offs, Roswell, 90210, Melrose Place...

Surprise, surprise the BBC have axed Big Top. It was either the abysmal number of viewers, or the remarkably negative reviews it got.

SHould be thankful the first episode drew around 3m viewers "only" - any more, they'd have comissionmed a second series then watched in horror as the number of viewers halved each week (as happened with the first series of Robin Hood). Still doesn't excuse a whole six series of Two pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, mind...

What's the betting Material Girl follows suit? The speed that went from being pre-watershed to post-News at Ten filler implies it won't be long.

Next up: Survivors, yet another example of the BBC thinking the first episode's ratings would last throughout the whole series run, only to see them drop off dramatically for episode 2 - or are they saving money another way, by canning 6 Music and the BBC Asian Network, a mere week after the BBC Trust said Radio 2 didn't have enough musical diversity or appeal to ethnic minorities?

About time. The first three or four were quite good and just about believable but the format has been stretched too far. Basically, every year there's been some network of terrorists who have been completely invisible to the authorities so far, have access to nuclear weapons, have around 100 'dispensible' workers and have three or four highly placed moles whose idea of excitement so far seems to be completing the weekend crossword. Plus, Jack should have been dead about 30 times by now given the treatment he's had. It needs an amusing pink robot which squirts Jack with a water pistol. Don't worry! Nothing cancelled today (not yet anyway). However, instead I bring news from E! Online's annual Save One Show poll. Voted on by the masses, the poll lists several bubble shows and asks the public to choose one to put their support behind. The poll has been credited in the past with helping save Angel, Felicity, and One Tree Hill, so who's getting their support this year?

Chuck 52%
One Tree Hill 20%
Life Unexpected 11%
Heroes 8%
Better Off Ted 5%
Parenthood 4%

Yes, while being the most talked about bubble show for the second year in a row, Chuck won the poll convincingly. We'll see if it helps their chances in the coming weeks.

Rumors abound on the future of certain NBC programming. What do you want first, the good news or the bad news? Too late, bad first!

This news courtesy of New York Magazine's Josef Adalian, speaks out on the bad-looking future for Heroes.

For weeks, even in the face of Heroes' bottom-dwelling ratings, conventional wisdom among TV-industry insiders has been that NBC was leaning heavily toward bringing back its once-mighty superhero series for a fifth and final thirteen-episode wrap-up season. But as NBC has become more confident in its slate of new shows, all indications are that our Heroes are dead.

Believe it or not, this is actually something of a surprise. Even though less than 5 million die-hard fans bothered to tune into last February's season-four finale (down from a peak of just under 17 million viewers who were watching at the start of season two), observers had figured NBC would find a way to keep Heroes around, if only as an insurance policy in case all of its new offerings flopped this fall. And since the show is wholly owned by NBC Universal, some speculated that the money generated by DVDs and international sales of the show would be enough of an incentive for NBC to give the show one more shot.

But when NBC executives got a look at the new pilots they had ordered (five have already been (http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2010/05/nbc_picks_up_three_more_series.html) commissioned as series (http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2010/05/nbc_picks_up_chase.html)), they fell in love with their own handiwork; the network felt far better about these new shows' potential than they did about Heroes'. Even though there's no guarantee that any of the newcomers will work, there's a lot more upside to giving a new contender such as J.J. Abrams's Undercovers the time to find an audience rather than yanking it off quickly and begging viewers to give Heroes one more shot. As a result, according to agency sources and chatter around Hollywood, Heroes has started looking less like a backup plan and more like a waste of money.

However, NBC (which declined to comment for this story) is nothing if not appreciative of the few Heroes fans who still care about the saga and doesn't want to leave them hanging. While a half-season appears to be out of the question, we hear there's a good chance the network will at least try to find a way to fund a two- or four-hour movie event in order to give some finality to the franchise. Those discussions haven't taken place yet, however, since NBC still hasn't officially told Heroes creator Tim Kring his show is canceled. Networks like to hold on to as many cards as possible headed into their annual upfront announcements (NBC's is on Monday), in case some last-minute development suddenly shifts the scheduling equation. This time last year, for example, the obits for Joss Whedon's Dollhouse had already been written when Fox stunned TV types by giving the show another (futile) shot.

In the case of Heroes, however, you can probably stick a Kensei sword in it: It's done.

Fret not though, if you prefer NBC's other Monday night underdog, Robert Seidman of TV By The Numbers brings good news on the Chuck front.

I’m not able to confirm it yet, but a source that has been very reliable in the past says Chuck has received a standard 13 episode pickup with an option for a back 9. Hardly a shocker if true, unless you were one of those definitively declaring it had zero chance for renewal. If that’s you, please wait for confirmation before going into hiding!

Update: again, my understanding of the deal is that it’s a standard 13+9 order (NBC has the option to order 9 more episodes, commonly referred to as a “back 9″) and that indicates Chuck would be on the fall schedule. Last year (for the current season). Chuck was announced as a mid-season show to begin with last May and there was no “back 9″ attached. Later its air date was pushed up to early January and NBC ordered six additional episodes.

Neither of these have been announced by NBC definitively, so don't expect the list to be updated quite yet, but these reports serve as pretty good evidence for the cancellation and renewal of these two bubble shows.

Gravity

We are reviewing all the cancelled shows and renewed shows of the season.

And this one is not an official announcement, but a statement from Greg Grunberg, one of Heroes Stars.

According to Michael Ausiello, Greg Grunberg told him on the People´s Choice Awards that Heroes is renewed for a fifth season,

Greg Grunberg told Ausiello: “We wrapped yesterday and the [final episode] is nowhere near a series finale, It is cliffhanger-y and exciting, but it is nowhere near an end to a series that people are so invested in. It does not tie everything up in a neat bow… I don’t have any doubt that the show will be back.”

So… it doesn´t matter if ratings aren´t the best… DVD sales, and international audiences are steadily good, so Heroes is renewed.

But, according to Vulture, NBC is cancelling Heroes instead of giving it a new fifth season run. However, the show could get a two or four hour movie wrap up to give the show a closure, in some sort of a Heroes fifth season renewal in a different format.

Apparently, NBC has five nice bets for this season, one of them J.J. Abrams new show, hence making Heroes as a backup plan a waste of money… 5 million hardcore US based fans, and International fans may be the saviors and make NBC gather the money for a two or four hour movie that can close the story and turn into the swan song for Heroes.

Are you happy that Heroes will be renewed for a fifth season according to Greg Grunberg? Or do you trust Vulture when they say it´s cancelled? Would you watch a movielike finale for Heroes?

I hope that it get's picked up for atleast 6 episodes to have a proper send off. I hate shows that get cancelled like NBC likes to do.

More Lie to Me???

Yes!!! God I love that show.

One show which I got pissed off which they cancelled last year I think was The Philanthropist, I loved that show and James Purefoy was brilliant in his role, it's nice to have some feel-good tv shows once in a while.

I can't be alone in being both not remotely surprised, as well as thankful, the plug may be pulled on Heroes?

The ratings have never been as high as Season 1 from what I hear (especially on the BBC, where they plummeted season on season to the point it went from being hyped as event television to Saturday evening filler with no promotion), and the only notable show I got bored of quicker in recent times is FlashForward.

Heroes has been on a steady decline of quality and ratings since it's first season. I'm hardly shocked it got pulled.

In other news, crazy day! First off, it's official, Chuck has gotten a 13 episode order from the guys at NBC. But it's the other BC that was busy today. ABC jumped out and renewed one bubble show, V, before cancelling several more in the form of Flashforward, Better of Ted, Scrubs, and Romantically Challenged. Crazy.

Scorecard has been updated.

Damn. I was having a pretty good run with shows I liked sticking around, but I was a BIG fan of Better off Ted. Damn

Not surprised that FlashForward got pulled, as they clearly ran out of ideas by about six episodes in. I read a few weeks ago that the mid-season break backfired spectacularly, too: Rather than build anticipation (like the break did for Glee...why, that show is more repetitive than Briana Banks' CV?), it gave people a reason not to watch the show when it came back.

Scrubs isn't a surprise, either. But it'll be repeateded endlessly on E4 for the next decade...

They havent canned Heroes? I'm a little surprised. Lie To Me is a kinda cool show but as much as I adore Tim Roth because I had to perform his Pulp Fiction part for a Rock Show once, he tends to make me feel like watching British actors who are like him but a bit better. Namely Hugh Laurie and Robert Carlyle, hence why I watch House and Stargate Universe.
Where'll V go though, I wonder? I don't think it could get better than it was, and it wasnt too flash hot.

I'm OK with Flash Forward getting cancelled even though I'm still watching it - as long as it reaches a proper conclusion at the end.

Hugh Laurie is a comedy genius, a great Bertie Wooster, not a bad piano player, owns the part of House but is in no way a better actor than Tim Roth. Robert Carlyle might have the edge though.

PS. Anyone wonder why D2KV has seen enough 'Glee' to know that it's repetitive? I caught about 2 minutes of one episode where one of the cheerleaders had a pretty good upskirt shot. I think that's probably all the show had to offer.

Glee's actually a much sharper show than it lets on. It's very funny and very over-the-top. The musical numbers are pretty great too, and that's from someone who doesn't care for musicals. It's pretty trendy to hate on Glee just because of it's image, but it's a lot better than that, and people who actually watch it know this.

Oh, and Law and Order's been canceled.

Law and Order ran it's course, sad but true. Scrubs was witty I rather enjoyed the last season. I think that V is also good. I am clammering for what is happening in it right now. I watch it like a hawk two or three times per episode to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Yeah you do, it's called Chuck and Community.

Pertaining to that, NBC has canned Heroes, Trauma, and Mercy. No surprises anywhere.

The CW has picked up One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected for new seasons, while CBS has canceled Ghost Whisperer and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

CBS is the only network not to post final fall schedule, but they haven't really left anything in question. Only CSIs, NCIS, The Mentalist, and Criminal Minds haven't gotten official renewals, and all likely will.

If you have a question over the fate of any other show, all of their fates have been confirmed, and are on the OP.

Blame the BBC, they're the ones who reported it was gone and that was it.
