Welcome one and all to the beginning of a new column here at Wrestlepower. The following is the start of a new era. That era is….
TER’s Feud of the Week
Kane and Matt Hardy
Alright then. Lets get down to business. I have recently felt the need to express my views every week on WWE’s latest and/or most promising feuds. This week, I throw Matt Hardy and Kane into the RAW arena and see who should come out on top.
I’m going to start this with Kane. Now as most of you know, Kane’s most recent major curve was unmasking just a little over a year ago. Every wrestling forum around the world rejoiced. Kane was finally going to get his shot at the big time and we don’t mean another 1-day title reign. It looked incredibly possible too. Kane’s first unmasked feud was with none other than Rob Van Dam. And though the feud was exciting for awhile, Kane quickly disposed of one of the most credible superstars on the roster. Not a smart move by WWE. RVD should have at least made Kane look slightly less threatening. Though they built Kane’s character greatly with this feud, Van Dam suffered. But I’m not here to ***** about RVD. Alas, Kane’s supremacy would not last. A feud with Shane McMahon killed off many chances for Kane. Follow it up with losses to Undertaker, Edge, Chris Benoit, and yes, Eugene and Kane is suddenly much less of a monster.
Matt Hardy has also struggled as of late. Since losing the Cruiserweight title to Rey Mysterio, the oldest Hardy boy has suffered tremendously. A transfer to RAW didn’t help either. Though a feud with Lita kept Hardy on RAW for a couple of weeks, his spotlight soon died out and he was forced back to the infernal hell known as Sunday Night Heat. And then it happened.
One faithful night on RAW, Kane needed a sacrifice. Lita was his main target. And as Kane tried to force Lita into a kiss, it was Hardy who came to the rescue. Whoa whoa whoa, timeout. Wasn’t it Matt Hardy who was attacking Lita a couple of months ago? WWE expected us to forget?!?! Whatever. Anyway, after a couple more weeks Lita is pregnant and you all know the story. Now as we come up to Vengeance, Hardy and Kane are in a No DQ match. Who should win? Who would it help?
The first obvious choice to come to mind is Matt Hardy. The kid has tons of talent, and beating Kane would be a huge step to IC title spotlight. But in all reality, would WWE push Matt Hardy over Kane? In the long run this feud is heading towards trouble anyway. We’ve seen pregnancy angles before and they never, I repeat, NEVER work. But could Kane benefit from a Matt Hardy loss? Beating up midcarders is never the best option, but Hardy is one of the most well known men on the roster. Kane winning could be his best win of the year. I may be the only one who checked but Kane has yet to win at a PPV this year! A win over Hardy would be a step on the road back to the most powerful guy on the roster. Trust me, if WWE does it right, Kane will destroy everyone and win the World Heavyweight Title. But by now, it’s gonna take some serious work.
Final Diagnosis
Kane
