Okay, members of Wrestlepower. The new site has been open for a while now and I think it's time that we find out what is working and what isn't in the sense of user feedback. Now I have contacted people about keeping the site up to date and as we all know that is a slight problem we are having right now that I hope to overcome soon(See "We need You" for details) but besides that I want to know what you people like about the site, what you want to see from it in the future, and more importantly if you use it.

I would also like to put across some ideas I have had for the future of the WP site, ideas that may seem a little out there but could be fun and intersting to run with. These ideas will also open our doors to those non-wrestling fans and allow us to bring members to the forums who can enjoy that aspect of this place.

So idea number 1 is simple, we bring back columns. Sounds easy but what I have in mind is a columns section in which people can write columns about Wrestling, Entertainment, Politics, Gaming, basically anything. It would be set up in such a way that you would basically have a list of articles, and at the top would be check boxes defining categories, so you can filter the list and find the articles you may want to read. It could also be done in a similar way to the GFX Library in which the categories are shown and you simply click the one you want to see it. A list of latest additions could also be featured somewhere. We could also use the tab system seen in the news section. There are many ways we could do this and this will branch out to everybody. I already have an article complete that JDK has written that I am just looking for a way to get onto the site. But yeah that is idea number 1

Idea number 2, some form of Entertainment section. When I first created the WPW Power 3 part of the site I had the idea, and it was an idea others had also, that it could be easily used for some form of Top ten Album/Game/Movies/Whatever system, and it has been an idea that has stuck in my head for a while. Essentially you would have a home page featuring the top 5 games, top 5 albums, and top 5 movies of the week. Then you would have a TV section where people could write reviews on episodes. The same could be done for Games, Movies, and Music also. This could be another way to feature columns as Entertainment reviews could be portrayed as columns. I could also create a cool rating system which I was going to use for rating WWE PPVs, or even WPW shows. I don't know but an entertainment section is an idea we could run with and that I am putting out there.

Idea number 3. Women. With the majority of the site traffic we will get being male then it would be silly not to feature a section of galleries. This could be the women of wrestling, the women of entertainment, or whatever. I think hardcore stuff might be out of the question but I reckon I could easily set up a section for this and I have a few ideas on how to create an admin system that will simplify everything.

Idea number 4. Merchandise. It was an idea suggested by Snowman that we discussed in the past, and it was going to be a major feature of the old WP site that never got off the ground. Jesse has had success with his Hammafist Merchandise and it could be another way to attract people to that, aswell as maybe even selling some WP stuff. It could be cool and could help Duff out with the server costs. Again just an idea.

Idea number 5. An Affiliate section. Advertising other websites in return for them advertising us creates links that will help our standings on search engines and attract people to the site. The ads wouldn't even need to be on the main page, they could be in a section of their own clickable from the main menu.

Idea number 6. This one would take a lot of work but it is an idea that I have toyed with in my mind for a while. One problem we have on the site is that articles cannot be individually linked, well I came up with a plan to solve that problem and have the system still use flash. Would we would have would be an input section, like you have on your browser, and each article would be allocated a random number in the section it is in. You would then enter for example "WWENews001" and the article would show. This system would be much simpler if I had set up the news system better. If it had been running from the one file as opposed to news and results files for each section then I could have easily allocated a random number to each article. It would have also allowed me to have the latest results show on the home page aswell as the news. It's something I will end up fixing at some point, and the more I think about it the more it seems beneficial. But yeah, idea number 6, essentially an address bar to link to articles individually.

I have plenty more ideas but I don't want to bore you lol. So let me know what you think about them but keep in mind the main focus right now is working on keeping the stuff we have up to date and running well. With that in mind I have added a poll to this thread to gain an opinion on what the users think of the site, but I would also like to hear your opinions and how you think the WP site could become more successfull.

Hmm, all very good ideas that I like. Although, I do admit, I dont use the main site so often, just visit there on the blue moon to see whats new, though if the WPW section was updated frequently, I might head there more often, but I havnt visited that place since JDK's WPW interview.

If you want I can post Video game news, I've been sorta doing that in the gaming section and I can just post any news I find thats interesting and relevant on both the main site and the forum. And maybe do reviews of games here and there, although I dont think you'll be seeing ''professional' type of reviews from me, you know, perfect grammar, articulate word spin etc lol. Just a couple of quick reviews on what the game is about and a final score at the end etc. Or I could maybe even an odd column once in a while I suppose, but I'm not really good at writing columns lol.

One question though, does adding so much content into the main site bring a lot of newer members in? I always thought it was the forums that got the most attention to bringing in newer members rather than the main site, and the main site was just complimentary goods to the forum so to speak.

All in all, I like the general ideas, but of course keeping them updates consistent is always the hardest part.

All your ideas are good, AX - just don't spread yourself too thinly. Best concentrate on what you know will be easy to update regularly.

Okay so it is clear from the poll that thew News section on WP is completely negleted, although that was what Duff wanted to be the main focus of the site lol.

I see that people voted for WPW and I have to agree WPW is a great part of the site, it just needs to be kept up to date by the people who run WPW.

I'm glad GFX and Podcasts are liked becuase I do my best to keep them going.

I'm just saddened that I spent 3 months on this project, working on it in my spare time, and it's turned out to be a bust becuase it never gets updated. I mean I could go for a while updating it myself but where would be the purpose, people are going to go elsewhere aren't they? The idea behind Wp.com was to bring new members to WP and to promote discussion etc. but as somebody said before they see WP.com as just an add on to the forums, which kind of sucks really when you put it like that.

But oh well, I guess my work was for nothing.

I'll continue to add Podcasts and GFX stuff becuase our GFx library is always usefull and I know some of you enjoy WP Radio. I will also add a new poll on the homepage every week. But if nobody is reading the news I don't know if it's worth my while bothering with it.

As for WPW, I don't know about WPW these days so I am hoping that the people who run it can keep that part of the site running, I mean I set that part up nice to give you a ton of stuff to play with and enhance the fed. I mean you have the Power 3, which is WPW's version of WWE's Power 5. You have the abaiity to add a textual version of the WPW Roundatble in WPW Exclusives, I had to change that the day before opening becuase the podcast bailed out. You have the Introducing, which has been used, and there was another WPW exclusive in there too called balst from the past that was asked for by the members and it was to be used for ana rchive of old interviews, so the WPw exclusives section is a pile of awesome waiting to be used. You also have WPW news which is a cool way to develope characters or even have some fun and just make random stories up. The PPV section is very advanced and I don't think anybody but me or Snowman realises that. I don't think you will realise just how much that section can be customised, and in such a simple way from the Admin Panel, I worked hard on that part and I hope when WPW Legacy is getting closer you will see how cool that is. You gusy also have the ROster section, which is up to date as far as the superstars are concerned but I beleive the Staff page is pretty empty and the Alumni page could feature a lot more stars from the past, it would be cool to even see some old PCW guys in there like The Dream and stuff. The Hall of Fame is obvisouly empty because nobody is in it yet right? As for Previews and Results I was aksed to change this becuase Snowy was finding it too much hastle to post the results again and do all the colouring etc. so I changed it so that the links from the site link to the thread instead of them being displayed on the site. As easy as that is now, the last results posted was the 18th of August, almost a month ago. I think the WPW section could do with a revamp to maybe change what the tabs are, and maybe introduce some more cool stuff for WPW but until it starts getting updated that isn't going to happen.

I understand people are busy but I put this project together to help the forums out and attract new members, I put a lot of work into it, and now it just seems like it was for nothing.

We need more Molly Brown, dammit!

Actually, a comment section is something that could be added at a later date

I'm happy (OK, who just spit soda over their screen reading that?) that the page isn't slowed down waiting for pop-ups to, well, pop up like Wrestlezone - or a bullhit haven like PWInsider or LordsofPain.
