Has anyone here done any iPhone jailbreaking? I have been thinking of getting Cydia (PDAnet etc.) in order to tether my phone to my computer so I have internet at work.
If anyone has jailbroken there phone and such, how easy is it to return to normal settings and will I lose things when I jailbreak it or return it to normal?

My Iphone 3g is Jailbroken (has been since i got it almost a year ago).
There is really no reason NOT to Jailbreak. It is strictly software, there is little to no "side-effects" other than having to reinstall the standard OS.
Plus, there is plenty of awesome goodies only available for Jailbreakers.
- PDAnet (Tethering for FREE...Sorta)
- Themes (vWallpaper)
- SBSettings/Bossprefs
- Altering the Topbar (or whatever its called). Actual ATT logo, Wifi Logo etc.
- Unlocking (if you don't like ATT)
- Installous (lets not discuss that. LOL)

Few questions as I've never heard of this-
Can you do it 3GS as well?
Does it just mean unblocking so you can do things Apple wouldn't let you?
Is it illegal?
Does it void your warranty?
How do you do it?
Is it like getting a console "chipped"?
Also, quick question about tethering... Is that just connecting your computer through your phones internet so it's free? I guess it'd be kinda slow though?

1. Yes. Now it works on 3GS
2. No/Yes. It just allows you to install Cydia/Installer. Which in turn allows you to run unsigned code...That apple doesn't officially allow.
3. No.
4. No.
5. blog.iphone-dev.org/ The creators of the news Unlocks/Jailbreaks
6. No. Software only.
7. On a 3G network it is slow, but not that slow. It runs about a more or less 20 second delay.

I keep seeing stuff about warning to not use PDAnet to much. ATT might cancel you or keep an eye on you if your moving to much data by being tethered to your laptop to much.
do you use PDAnet often Wrestlingmann?

I've jailbroken around 15 iPhones, if you don't like it you can go right back to previous settings. I need mine so I can get any app store game for free and so I can the internet to come up regular, more options, customizable skins and icons, ect. Plus to unlock it. I just did it recently again actually, for the 3.0 OS..
