The Pele or Maradona of this football generation, Messi and C.Ronaldo are the two heavyweights of the footballing world right now-but who do you prefer?

For me, noone, not even C.Ronaldo, can touch Messi. I've had the pleasure of watching him all year long on Saturday and Sunday evenings in La Liga and he is a phenomenon. His close control is like nothing I've ever seen before, the way he just breezes past two or three defenders with pure ease is amazing. He has 34 goals and 17 or 18 assists so far this season, a combination of over 50 goals. Oh, and all hsi goals came from open play.

With regards to C.ronaldo, I truly believe that only a Manchester United fan could ever choose him over Messi. Messi has the professionalism and the maturity that C.Ronaldo lacks in abundance. C.Ronaldo's petulance is absoloutley pathetic it almost becomes funny.

I also believe that Messi offers Barcelona more options than C.Ronaldo offers Man United, and that his threat is far more than that of a goalscorer.

So, who do you think is the best of the two?

EDIT: Tell us why too, its easy to choose one, but why did you choose?

Ronaldo just. I dunno why he is just more of a celebrity and has that sulky attitude. but he knows hes good, and ive seen more of him then i have messi. Messi is a good player to from what ive seen. He is more direct than ronaldo is. But ive not seen that much of him.

Cristiano Ronaldo is also more of a celebrity than Diego Maradona...

Good job a footballer isn't judged on social status.

If this was on the Sky Sports website, either way you'd be voting for Showpony Ronaldo...

Messi 1
Ronaldo 0

Come to think of it, did Cristiano Ronaldo do anything in the second half other than kick and elbow Barca players, and act like a petulent little prick (oh, wait, that's natural for him, isn't it?)

Best in the World? This guy wants a word with you, Cristiano...

Also, in all the pre-game hype on SKy, they kept banging on and on about how Messi has never scored against an English team, and doesn't score with headers. So, after he did both (at the same time, natch), and the game was clearly a walk in the park for Barca - when they weren't being clattered by Ronaldo, Scholes and Vidic - they finally had to admit something: Cristiano Ronaldo has never scored against a Spanish team. Let's hope he fucks off to Real Madrid this summer, and that statistic remains as he gets found out against real opposition (as so regularly happens against any decent Premier League team)
