Worst gimmick of 2008

SmackDown Superstar The Great Khali’s “Khali Kiss Kam” was named “Worst Gimmick” in the 29th annual Wrestling Observer Newsletter readership awards announced this past week. This is Khali’s second Wrestling Observer Newsletter award as he was voted “Most Overrated” by the publication’s readership last year. Here is the final voter tally:

Even though he is only at #9 I didn't think Charlie Haas's impersonation gimmicks were bad. Actually some of them were entertaining. Stone Cold Shark Boy was at least somewhat better than his total jobber gimmick (although I think he is back to that now).

However, I think I can agree with #s 1 & 2. As far as World title reigns go, 2008 is a year Punk and Samoa Joe may want to forget.

I'm surprised with 3,8 and 9 in terms of I liked the gimmicks to an extent. I liked the Super Eric gimmick, despite what most people felt about it, to me it was better than what followed it in the whole finding Elvis stuff, also I can understand peoples views on number 8 although I fear they are comparing it to Hassan and feel it was more a rip-off than annoying. I quite liked Haas' copy gimmick, although it only works for so long and theres no real logical continuation.

Cute Kip should be higher up the list. I think the only reason the gimmick isn't was because of the lack of interest in the gimmick to notice it.
