Damn, I was really hoping Lesnar would fight Couture, I guess this Lesner guy will have to do.
Where are you hearing this from anyway? The Most Important Man Alive?

Yeah, a source would be kinda important...otherwise this news is total and completly worthless and similar to shit in texture.

I'll just post the post he probably got it from.

A source close to the situation confirmed today that Couture is in negotiations with UFC for a new three-fight deal which would end the nearly nine month legal battle between the two sides.
If the deal is closed, and the source said they are hoping to conclude negotiations and announce the match sometime within the next week, Couture would face Brock Lesnar on 11/15, most likely in Portland, Oregon. There are still minor problems involving tax issues that have kept finalizing the Rose Garden as the venue on that date, but UFC sources on Thursday expected the deal would conclude.
It had been rumored heavily the past few days about a Couture vs. Lesnar fight in Portland, as a one-fight deal to settle the legal issues. But the talks involve a contract where both sides would expect Couture to legitimately retire as a UFC fighter.

Sherdog's forums are kind of talking about this, although nothing is up on the main page. So I don't know. The lack of Fedor/Couture kinda sucks :(

I'd rather see Fedor/Couture than Lesnar/Couture.

After reading more about this, a possible plan is have Lesnar/Couture, then Fedor/Couture in Feb and then who knows what for the last fight. I can't help but feel Big Nog is getting a little fucked over by all of this.

MIMA told me about it and showed me that 99% confirmation I wanted to get the word out about it.
When MIMA says something its the truth figured your 2 would know that by now.
They are literally just waiting on the taxes to get worked out its a done deal.

LMFAO!
You know, that was the first thing that I thought when I saw this thread. I thought: "No way is that real, and if it is, Brock is toast."
He's gonna get worked. Plain and simple.

I find what your thinking to be funny Main style Man. Im a Randy lover as well...but think of the matchup. The only high end knockout Randy has is one over liddel...before getting murder killed two times back. I think is submission game is nearly zero, or at least I have never seen him attempt to even pull anything.
Randy Couture is a wrestler.
Guess who is much much MUCH better, bigger, stronger AND faster then him at his chosen style?
Brock Lesner.
Not only that but Brock can punch a man so hard he rolls half way across the ring WITHOUT PULLING HIS HAND BACK!
So what praytell do you think Randy is going to catch him with? Will he out wrestle him? (WAHAHAHA) Will he manage to get anywhere close to able to knock him out? (Im sure if he got half way near he would get dropped on his head) or will he go for a myster submission? (Which I promise you even Frank Mir couldnt pull off again let alone a guy who isnt a black belt)
Dont get me wrong, Randy is the kind of guy to find a way to win...though his last few wins have been grind outs....but do you really think he can grind out Brock Lesner?

Gonzaga, Vitor Belfort, Pedro Rizzo and Kevin Randleman all disagree.
As for Randys submission game its better than alot of people think, he choked out Mike Van Arsdale with an Anaconda choke and hung with Ronaldo Jacare one of the worlds best BJJ fighters in a grappling match very recently.

Randy's strong point is his work in the clinch, his game planning and his wrestling, Brock is also a wrestler yes and most likely a stronger wrestler however I highly doubt Randy will be going to the ground as easily as Heath Herring, Frank Mir or Min Soo Kim and even if Brock does get Randy to the ground he wont be able to control him as easily as Brock controlled Heath Herring(who's never really been good at getting up off his back).

Randy is a game planner, nobody thought he could beat Vitor Belfort, he did. Nobody thought he could beat Chuck Liddel, he did. Nobody thought he could beat Kevin Randleman(who is a lot like Brock only with KO power and lighter) he did. Tito Ortiz, Tim Sylvia, Pedro Rizzo, Gabriel Gonzaga. All good fighters, all good wrestlers and all were a lot more experienced than Brock.
Dont get me wrong, Randy is the kind of guy to find a way to win...though his last few wins have been grind outs....but do you really think he can grind out Brock Lesner?
I honestly have no idea what you mean by the term "grind out". Close fights? He dominated both Tim Sylvia and Gonzaga. Fights that went the distance? The Gonzaga fight certainly didn't and even so the real question should be can Brock "grind out" Randy Couture? I don't think he can.

I am so excited about this fight. And I'm gonna be straight up, I like Lesnar's odds. I think he can overpower Randy, and get him to the mat very early on. I think Randy will need a lot of defense in this one.

One, I like the phrase "Murder Killed" and will be incorporating it into my daily speech.
Two, isn't Tim Sylvia bigger than Brock Lesnar?

ummm about Lesnar being a beter wrestler than Coutue
- Couture is a two time NCAA division 1 runner up at 190 lbs (Lesnar being a Division 1 hampion at HWT)
- He is also a semi-finalist in the 2000 olympic trials in greco-roman wrestling
-I think Couture being a semi-finalist in the olympics maybe a little more of an accomplishment than Lesnar being a NCAA champ but if they wrestled, there is no doubt in my mind that Lesnar would win a wrestling match between the two.
Now a fight, Couture has much more experience in the octagon than Brock but that might not be such a god thing. Now Randy might know how to mix wrestling with MMA much better than the green Brock Lesnar but with his old age and only a weight around 220 is going to be at a huge disadvantage to Brock Lesnar who has to cut to make 265 and unlike Tim Silvia, Lesnar is all muscle.
If Lesnar gets in close enough for a shot, there is no way Couture will be able to defend it just like Mir and Herring weren't unable to. The only way for Couture to win this fight is if he hits a sumbission (which probably will not happen) or finds a way to KO Lesnar from the feet (I think its very doubtful, even though Brock has never been tested with it I believe he has an extremely strong Jaw).
My perdiction for this fight is that its going to be Lesnar taking him down and keeping him down for all three rounds just like with heath herring (but I think it will be less of a beat down with Couture holding his own better)

It’s going 5 rounds. It’s a title fight.
So, thinking about this fight, Right now I still don’t give a fuck about it. Weird, No? Possibly something to do with the fact Brock doesn’t deserve the title shot at all. I guess that’s another argument for another day.
Oh, and Brock is such a brilliant man...
“Who give a shit about Fedor? I'm sick of hearing about fucking Fedor. He's not with the company; he might not ever be with the company, so who gives a shit?"

Brock Lesnar is a big giant monkey gorilla smother pound face death bringer and if he should win the title he will be UNSTOPPABLE until someone put's him in anything sort of resembling a leg lock. Or just outfights him.

OK, can anyone tell me why UFC refer to him as "Lesner" in the promotional material? His name is Lesnar, is listed as Lesnar on his UFC profile, and WWE can't copyright somebody's real name - did somebody make a boo-boo in the UFC publicity department?

Most likely a typo or something.
It doesn't make UFC look good when they mis-spell the name of the member of the roster who has the most name value to casual viewers on their promotion (certainly at the level of Tito Ortiz), and don't have the time or money to change it.
That'd be like TNA advertising Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angel.

So do you think this result helps the image of the UFC title or hurts it? On one account Brock is a marketable name built by the WWE who is big, mean, and strong. One the other hand a guy with under 5 professional fights just beat one of the most known Champions in the companys history.
Thoughts?

Helps for sure, Brock is a big name, now he's a pretty big star within MMA itself. This will create a lot of intrest for the Nog/Lesnar fight, and will make Nog a bigger star when he likely wins. Randy doesn't lose credibility either because of the size and age disparity.

Gotta help the image. Couture is now obvously past his best and was giving away weight and age so was ripe for a beating (again - his record was 16-8, so not that impressive to the outsider)
Lesnar looks the part and has obviously been learning the game since Mir1. Expect better buy rates next time.
