Peoples King
06-12-2004, 10:23 PM
live from the Nationwide Arena, Columbus Ohio

The opening promo for Bad Blood airs. It features shots of the Beniot/Kane feud and the Jericho/Edge feud intertwined with clips of war, famine and violence. There is a sinister voice over that talks about the hatred of man and how tonight humans shall sucomb to Satan. Tonight is filled with Bad Blood!

The graphics for Bad Blood hit our screen as "Sold Me" by Seether plays. We cut to the arena where the pyro's go off on the stage as the song hits its chorus. The pyro ends in a huge rapid fire display. The lights swirl and the camera's pan around the arena. We go down to JR and the King who welcome us to Columbus Ohio and to WWE Raw's Bad Blood. They say that tonight there is a packed card from start to end and that the Nationwide Arena is sold out. JR says there is alot of speculation about whether or not Val Venis's leg has healed up. Because coming up now is Lance Storm vs Val Venis. King mentions this is Storms first PPV since Judgment Day '03.

1st Match
Lance Storm
vs
Val Venis
Venis's leg is indeed healed but it may not be all that strong. The two men tie up to start the match off and trade some fast and well timed technical moves. This gets them an applause as they tie up and trade holds again for a while. Storm steps things up with some right hands and takes control with the first big move, a double underhook Suplex. Venis fights back hitting a High Angle Back Suplex and a Suplex for some near falls. Venis is in control but Storm goes down to that left leg. The Canadian Technician begins to work over the leg and does some heavy damage on the outside, slamming it off the post and hitting a Shinbreaker on the steel steps. Storm is in complete control with a leg grape vine. Venis fights back Trapping Suplex. Near falls with a School boy and Inside Cradle from Val. He starts to gain some momentum but runs straight into the Rolling Half Boston Crab of Lance Storm. Venis gets to the ropes after around a minute in the hold. Storm sets for the Superkick but its dodged and Venis hits the Spinout Powerbomb. Up top and he hits the Money Shot but Storm gets his knee's up and rolls Val up with some tights for the 1 2 3.
Winner: Lance Storm via pinfall
Storm makes a quick escape before Venis can recover.

Nice show PK, followed the PPV formula well, less segments/ longer mattches. I will post a review of it when I get a chance but for now...footy is on :D

Chazz

Well, for starters, I was 6-1 with my predictions. I put Jericho over Edge and that was my only miss. Still, 6-1 is pretty darn good. Anyways, let me break the matches down and I will grade them using 1-5 points (one being bad and five being great).

Storm vs. Hardy:

Nice one to kick the show off with. Love how you still sold Val's leg injury. The match was good, and I feel that in real life these two could put on some great matches together. Storm getting the win was needed to establish himself as a quality heel. Match rating: 3

Hardy vs. Tajiri:

This match surprised me in that I felt it was well thought out and planned. The feud leading up to this was okay, but the match payoff here was very good. Like the touch of Stacy coming down and showing her thong to distract Tajiri to help Matt get the win. Stacy as an MF'r is a good call. Match rating: 4

Rhyno vs. O'Haire:

A solid match, in which the third encounter proved to be the best one. O'Haire losing makes sense here, especially since he left Rhyno as a victim to another fireball. Glad that it was No Holds Barred and you wrote in some great spots. Very entertaining. Match rating: 4

Orton vs. Benjamin vs. Christian:

The only thing I didn't like about this match was Christian's exit because he got knocked out. Other than that, the match lived up to the buildup you put into it. Orton winning here only sets the stage for the one-on-one encounter we want between Benjamin and Orton. Match rating: 3.5

HBK/Cade vs. Regal/Dinsmore:

Match was alright. I'm just glad that HBK/Cade won because I feel that will lead to the one-on-one encounter you are building up for between Dinsmore and HBK. I did like some of the spots in this match, and it was better than I thought it would be. Match rating: 3

Edge vs. Y2J:

Great match, and no doubt these two will meet again soon. I loved the ending where Jericho couldn't believe he got screwed. Great stuff. I'm not putting much here because I enjoyed the whole match. Match rating: 4.5

Benoit vs. Kane:

If only the real main event at Bad Blood could be as good as the one you wrote. You mixed in Kane's power with Benoit's technical prowess in this whole match. Loved the spots on the announcer's table, chair shots, turnbuckle shots. And, I loved the ending with Benoit applying the crossface to a blody Kane and getting the win. But, I liked how Kane never tapped. Match rating: 5

Overall, a great show PK. Good solid ppv that gives you great momentum going into Raw. Great job.

Thanks Chazz for the round up and the rating of the matches. Its good to see that everything I wanted to go right went right.

Look foreward to seeing 12's write up. Hard luck agianst France, that was one of the best finishes I have seen to a soccer match in a long time.

-Edit-
Sorry I forgot to address the Christian KO thing. IMO this works out for what I want to do with Christian. I have some idea's and I felt this was the best way to get them started. Just tune into Raw to find out.

Seeing as I can’t put up my review of the real bad blood till tomorrow I have a bit of time now to do a review of your show PK.
I’m not going to rate the matches just comment on the result and story of the match…
Btw Chazz goes 6-1 and I get 2-5 it’s a fix I tell you! No joke I guess I just wasn’t on the same track as PK and Chazz.
On with the review:

1st Match
Lance Storm
vs
Val Venis
Winner: Storm
I predict: Storm

One of the matches I actually picked up on. The story of the match was very good. I haven’t seen much of Storm in ring but what I have and what I have heard tells me he is a great technician, so picking on Venis’ leg was a good way to sellt he sotry of the match. Nice ending, Storm should definatley be over as a heel. Nice opener.

2nd Match
Tajiri
vs
Matt Hardy Version 1.0
Winner: Hardy
I predicted: Tajiri

I can see why I picked wrong on this one, Matt has a lot more potential and with the ending of Stacy aligning herself with him I think he is going to get stronger as a competitor. Match was one of my favourite written of the night; lots of spots that would make it a very entertaining match.

Finals of the Best of 3 Series
Sean O'Haire (1)
vs
Rhyno (1)
Winner: Rhyno
I predicted: O’Haire

I am not sure about your choice of winner here, mainly because I like the Sean O’Haire character and have never been overly convinced by Rhyno’s ability but O’Haire getting the final shot in with the fireball was a nice touch. I am not sure about this continuing the feud though if that is the plan. I felt the PPV would have been the best way to end it but if Rhyno is seriously injured then perhaps it will be. Good last minute addition of the stip: is what I wanted to see in my prediction. Felt it was a bit short, could have taken a bit more time to build up the use of weapons rather than go straight in. Overall, a nice gimmick match with some nice spots, powerbomb onto the chair being my favourite. Would feel a little rushed if it were a real match.

Triple Threat
Intercontinental Title
Christian w/Trish Stratus
vs
Shelton Benjamin
vs
Randy Orton w/Ric Flair(Champion)
Winner: Randy Orton
I predicted: Christian

I think this would have stolen the show in a real PPV. The only thing I felt was lacking was some spots in which all 3 men were involved, but having Christian get knocked out was a nice idea because it got to show some more of Benjamin’s one-one-one ability. Having Randy kkep the title is probably a good idea for now as he has no obvious high profile feud to go into if he were to lose here. The transition form upper-mid card to Title hunt needs to be slowed down and I think you made the right decision by keeping the title on him.

Tag Match
Shawn Michaels & Garrison Cade
vs
Raw Enforcer's (William Regal & Nick Dinsmore)
Winners: HBK and Cade
I predicted: HBK and Cade

I really felt the ending of this match. Came across really well, there were some nice spots early on like the plancha …

shall have to be continued latwr as I am going out, sorry PK I will get round to it eventually

I think I would have like to have seen Cade more involved in the match up since he hasn’t really proven himself in the WWE and you had a chance to let him show his stuff so I am slightly disappointed in that. Although I wasn’t feeling the feud I like the match story and the obvious heel tactics. Impressed me more than I thought it would.

'Mr Canada' Edge w/Ric Flair
vs
Chris Jericho

How did I know this was going to be the match of the night? Could it be PK’s passion for being a Jericho mark? Honestly I think it was superbly written and had a great story to it. Naitch interfering like the Orton match shows a real backbone of the Evolution. They go 2 – 0 for the night and I think your decision to put Edge over was probably as wise one considering he has had a recent face turn, it allows him to establish his heel character. I don’t thin the loss would have done him too much harm but I guess it could have gone either way. Superb match that I could see happening. Couple of stolen spots like the slap and punch at the start from WMXX and a bit of a clichéd ending; but all in my favourite match. NB I though you loved Y2J to have him Job on your first PPV, damn.

WorldHeavyweight Title
Kane
vs
Chris Beniot(Champion)

OK I honestly didn’t particularly like this match. It was too much of a brawl for my liking. There were also too many extreme spots. When you’ve got two superstars like O’Haire and Rhyno who might not be comfortable together in the ring then a lot fo these spots is fine but when you’ve got the best technical wreslter in the WWE I think you should have been more methodical with the use of weapons. Perhaps should have had Benoit trying to keep it to a real wrestling match and Kane be the one who instigates the extreme violence. The other thing I disagree with is Benoit giving up on the crossface in order to hit Kane with the title. It just wasn’t believable. For what it was, I think the match was nice but not the kind of match to have fought the World Title over and that I would have booked it differently. I honestly didn’t like the scripting of this match. As for the result, I thought there would be a huge upset but I was wrong (like so many other times in this PPV) but keeping the feud going is probably a good idea so the ending with the chokeslam fitted well.

Chair shot coming but Beniot ducks it and Kane hits the ropes, bringing the chair back into his face.
NB: LOL I have a video of when the Rock did this and it still cracks me up.

There ya go PK, hope I wasn't too harsh on the last match, I'll go and take a peruse at Raw in a mo

Thanks for your honesty 12 and now I have alot of food for thought. Yourself and Chazz disagreed on quite a few subjects in this one.

I think it was a good idea to have the match like a brawl. A good champion can put togeather all types of matches and I felt Beniot needed to do this. A First Blood match is a good way to give Beniot a need to brawl with Kane. All that has happened leading up to the match hinted towards a vicous all out brawl. If you didnt like this one then more then likely you wont like the rematch.

I have done the other Raw reveiw and I have to say I wasn't fond of eiher but i preferred the other. It wasn't as blatant with the volence.
