View Full Version : Biggie or Pac
The biggest debate in hip hop history.
2Pac or The Notorious B.I.G., who was the better MC and why?
You can argue the cases for both, but if you had to make the choice, who would you go with?

It's gotta be Pac, Pac had more feeling in his lines and the personal experience behind it Biggie had some good tunes but they were more about the melodies rather then the lyrics but Pac's was just just raw power and emotions in his words
True.
But Biggie was the better story teller. When you listen to his songs, you can see them playing out in real life. With Pac, he got you caught up and you would sing along with him.
And nobody, to this day, had a flow like Biggie.
And nobody, is as good a lyricist as Pac.

I have to give this one to Pac. I think that Biggie is the best pure MC of all time but Pac was something more than just an MC. His lyrics were packed full of raw emotion and was much more versatile than BIG was. Pac could portray a gangsta image or he could go deeper and discuss the life of a young mother ( Brenda's got a Baby), telling people to not get down about too much in their lives ( Keep Ya Head Up) or showing appreciation for his mother ( Dear Mama). These are topics very rarely discussed in the hip-hop community and Pac both brought them up, and he brought them into the mainstream.
Big predominantly rapped solely about girls, drugs and money. These are topics that have become very cliche in the hip-hop community and BIG added very little social comment.
I think that BIG was a great rapper but not to the extent that Pac was.

Hands down I have to say Biggie. I have no disrespect for Pac and its not because I'm from the East Coast.
Biggie never, never, even after him and Pac parted ways, dissed Pac.
Pac was all about the money(The reason why he claimed to have sex with Biggies wife Faith).
Pac was a greedy sombitch(Not to speak ill will of the dead).
Biggie stucked to his guns(Not real guns) and his roots.
One of the things Biggie did that Pac never did is take the horrendous word "ugly" and make it beautiful. In one of his songs, the main message is yea I'm a fat ugly person, but I still can get the chicks.
I like Biggies flow. The beats and words he made was sick.
I got to say Biggie
but i got to admit pac is also nasty.

Personally I'm a bigger fan of Cube than both Biggie and Pac, especially his early stuff. "No Vaseline" is the greatest diss rap ever written.
Between Biggie and Pac though, I'd definately have to go with Pac. Biggie gets minus points simply for swiping the flow from "Lodi Dodi" to use as the chorus in "Hypnotize". Haven't really had respect for him since...
A lot of rappers do take lines or hooks from previous rappers songs to show their respect to that rapper.
Biggie did it to show respect to Slick Rick.
Jay-Z used Biggie's lines all the time and he didn't have to. Nas called him on that saying that he took Biggie's rhymes. Jay replied in a song saying that when he uses Biggie's lines, he's just showing respect to the man and how good he was.
Pac was from NY and went over to the West Coast to sign with Death Row because Suge bailed him out. He was no longer true to his hood but he went over their and dropped the greatest rap album ever with "All Eyez on Me".
Beefs between MCs was very common. Whether the Pac/Biggie beef was legit or made up by Pac to sell records, a lot of records were sold except the beef divided up the coasts and rap community and they both died for it.
I still can't pick who the number 1 MC was. To me, they were both great and had a big impact on me and my boys in our teens growing up the way we did.

I agree with CLIT. I would have to call it a tie. Biggie had an unmatched flow. I don't think you will ever find a rapper who has a flow equal to his. Biggie also put out one of the best albums in "Ready to Die." Albums like that stay in your CD player for years. Pac was also great. Some of the east coast fans of rap are quick to say Biggie because of their loyalty to the east coast. Some don't realize that as CLIT said that Pac was originally from NY. To me, once from NY you'll always be a New Yorker. I do also agree with you that "All Eyez on Me" was if not one of the greatest, one of the best rap albums of all time. The thing I like about both emcee's is that they weren't your average rappers who just rapped about **** just to say it. They lived through it and you can tell. All people who have been going through the struggle can relate to their rhymes. Real hip hop died with both of these men and other than a couple of underground rappers and Jay-Z (to an extent) real hip hop hasn't been going strong like it once had been. I can't pick between the two as I feel both are equally great and both changed the game of hip hop and brought it to that next level equally as much.

I voted for 2Pac simply because he made the world of rap so popular. And if it wasn't for 2Pac I would have never gotten into the music of Rap.
