View Full Version : IOW's downfall a blessing?

I don't have much to say that hasn't already been said. I like many others will miss IOW. The place was like an escape for me. It was a place where I could discuss wrestling and anything else under the sun. I have made friends during my time there and I have also made enemies. I will always consider IOW the best forums the net ever had to offer. The demise was inevitable. Fred didn't seem to feel the need to spend his time on the main site or the forums. Now that IOW is gone, it seems as if many former IOW members will start to flock WP. That is a good thing and a bad thing at the same time. While this site needs members to grow, I feel that if many of the spammers and immature posters so to speak come over this site will be doomed. I have been posting over here for a bit and I like the change in intelligence. I don't have to read a bunch of posts with people saying how they hate a wrestler, love a wrestler, etc. Well, I might as well wrap it up here...:o . If we want to make WP as good or even better than IOW once was, we need to make sure to post intelligently. If you can't add anything to a thread then don't post. We shouldn't be looking to get our post counts up as quality will help the longevity of the boards. Another thing that goes with posting intelligently is posting complete sentences that use proper grammar. I know we are all educated to some extent so we can show that. I know it is the net and we're accustomed to shorthand and such but it would add so much to the forums if people would spell out words completely, use correct punctuation, start sentences with a capital letter, etc. (I feel like a teacher...:) ) This is one of the things that made the Molly's Take forum so great when it was booming. Even when we weren't talking about wrestling we didn't see the need to write shorthand. One more thing, have fun again. As long as we have intelligent wrestling discussions, intelligent debates, remember quality over quantity, and just aim to atleast represent ourselves in an intelligent manner, these boards will be as good as IOW once was. Lastly, I agree with many others on the skins and overall feel of the board. When the main page goes up, we need something more appealing to the eye to attract posters. That's not my field of expertise nor is it my place to say that it's what we need but it would be a nice addition. RIP IOW, I will miss you. Hopefully we can make WP what IOW once was.

There is already an IOW thread.
I think he knows.
Yeah, Unknown it is a blessing but the way you are saying it in your post is a bit snobbish if you ask me.
Yeah but sometimes you need the idiots, they provide good entertainment sometimes. They just need to know their place. I say if any jump ship you change their profile name to WP Jester. They're there for our amusement.

I agree....quality over quantity (which is why Unknown is the POTM). As for the skins, I hope the new IOW skin will help the visual appeal of the board.

There is already an IOW thread.Yeah I know that...this is about IOW but it's on how WP can become better because of its downfall. Just thought it should be given its own thread.
I think he knows.
Yeah, Unknown it is a blessing but the way you are saying it in your post is a bit snobbish if you ask me. I'm not trying to sound snobbish in any way. I at times go a little far when I want to get my point across but I don't see how I sounded snobbish. I just feel as if we can make this forum better if we can add to it intelligently. Yeah a few dumb posters here and there aren't that bad but too many flocked IOW within the past few months which is what I don't want to happen.
