Hello there boys and girls and everyone else in between. This is just a little update to inform you of some of the changes we will be making to WP in the coming days and weeks. We'll be installing lots of fun new features, changing some things about and launching one or two new trial ideas.

Ok, so lets kick things off with the new features.

mysmilies- this is a little addition that will allow each user to add their own personal library of smilies to use on the forums. Smilies can be added from the web or your own pc.

xbox live league table- a feature that will allow a league table of all xbox live users. This one may take a little while to implement, so may not be available immediately.

moodmanager- this will allow you all to show the WP users just what mood you're in at any given moment courtesy of a simple dropdown menu that will display your mood in your postbit.

living avatars- a rather unique concept that allows you to take a basic avatar character and dress them and accessorise them however you wish. This is quite difficult to describe in words, so maybe this picture will help.



Of course, clothes will be only the starting point for what you can do with your avatar. Why not give them a magic cape or a big fucking sword?

Inactive members reminder- in order to try and bring back those who have left, this handy little feature will send an email to those who ahven't logged on within a set ammount of time reminding them theat we miss them.

Statsbox- already up and running at the bottom of the forumhome page.

Finally on the new features front, for all you myspace/bebo/similar site lovers out there, WP will be offering full profiles similar to those sites, all accessed through the forums. At the moment, we are unable to confirm what features will be available on this service, but be assured that we'll allow as much as we physically can.

I think it's about time we said goodbye to that silly lotto function as its just a little bit underused. In fact, has anyone ever used it?

All store values have been reset to make products higher to achieve. Also, the ability to change your own avatar and user title through your profile will now be disabled, with people having to save up points to purchase these items.

Finally, this month sees the launch of WP Premium Memberships. Premium members will be given custom avatars, custom user titles, custom name colour and font and will be able to view the forums ad free for the tiny sum of $5 per year.

you don't have to have the money. It isn't designed for younger members, it's designed for people that are in a position, and want, to help the forums. Anyone, whether they subscribe or not will be able to buy any of the features listed through the vB store, same as they always have been always able to and the same as they would on any other forum.

The changes to custom avs and user titles would have been made regardless of the premium membership launch and people would have had to post well, invest their "money" well in vBookies or whatever other methods in order to buy things from the store. This isn't designed to punish people who arent gonna subscribe, it's designed to make the store more of an asset to the forums and increase the contribution of members in order to achieve a more rewarding forum overall.

Mood work really easy and it quite cool.

yeah, it's a fun little thing and extremely easy to use. Even more importantly, it's customisaale so if someone made new moods or edited the current ones, i could easily just upload them with no real effort. Plus, it was easy as fuck to install.

My internet has blocked access to the ftp again until 2am tonight, so i won't be able to do anything more until then. It's a fucking pain in the ass that i cant do shit online until 2am, especially since the net slows to a fucking crawl at that time.

it was a typo, it was spelt psychadelic in one folder and psychedelic in another, so they didnt match up.

Select it again adn it'll work.

Not sure about dressing the avatar type thing. That's the sort of feature your six year old sister would love though. You had better reassure the penniless members that the $5 isn't compulsory, Duff, and only buys a few extra features.

I'll explain the premium features with more clarity when they're ready to begin. I didnt actually consider the situation where people thought they would be compulsory. I kinda assumed everyone would get that they were optional.

ok, xboxlive league table is now operational. In order to be ranked, you must go to your usercp>editprofile and type you xboxlive gamertag into the box provided. Then to view the table, simply selct it from the quicklinks dropdown menu.

ok, the advanced profile options (myspace kinda thing) are now working. An example link is given below. More content options will be added for the profiles in the coming days. To create your own profile, the use the profile drop down menu in the navbar at the top of the page and select profile. Let me know when you have one done so i can go check it out.

The first time you click on this link, it will redirect to your own profile. If you then click again, it will take you to the sample profile.

oh, i meant to post that. Once you add your gamertag, the system is set to update once per hour so your tag will not be displayed straight away.

As for the skin, yeah i can agree with that. You hav to realise though that this is a new feature and will be improved and changed over time in the same way the forums were. I remember our first skin on here and it left a lot to be desired. While the profiles feature is a bit plain and average at the moment, that will improve over time.

It's actually a pretty cool thing to mess with. It only took me like a half hour to fill it up and make my own color and blocks, pretty nice if I do say myself.

The large font doesn't really bother me that much. Course, I don't have school for like a month, so the only other people besides me who might see it are my brothers, but they just check their MySpace's. Losers.

Some of the skins we had went a bit haywire so I had to disable them for the time being. Crap like headers missing, and font colors changing mysteriously. I think I know what the problem is and they'll be resolved within the week. Doesn't help much that I don't have internet access at home anymore.

Anyways, a new skin is available called "Orange and Blue". Try it out.

I'm loving the new profile system (made mine and i if they show up the IOW Throwback and Black and Orange Halloween theme for it. I don't know if it shows up on every profile. The "Halloween" style goes well with the WP Black and Gold theme for the forum.) and the "Premium" membership sounds good...As long as at least some of the donations go to keeping the site up.

Glad you like all the stuff and the forums in general. Not entirely sure what you were trying to say about the profiles and skins as it didn't make much sense.

Every penny from premium memberships will go towards the forums. I havent taken a single cent from WP since i bought it, and see no reason to start now

oh, you made some skins for the profile system, is that what you're trying to say?

If it is, you can share them with other members by going to style editor>edit current style> and tick the box to share in styles database.

Members who wish to use those skins can then go to current style> browse member styles and pick the styles from in there. I developed a rather crappy black and gold absed one in there that is available for others to select if they wish.
